Exalok Shiruki [WIP]

Exalok looks, from the front, exactly like a harpy eagle: a downy white head with a grey-feathered frill fanning out from the back of it, a hooked, ash-colored beak, dark eyes beneath a forward-thrusting brow, grey neck and white chest, sturdy forelimbs whose feathered parts are speckled with black while the pebbly skin beneath is a creamy yellow and, finally, viciously long, cindered talons. As for the back part of her, it is shaped like that of a lion: lean, streamlined legs, with powerful clawed paws, and short cream-grey. The one difference is her tail, the whippy one of a lion replaced by the fanned-out grey feathers of the harpy eagle.
She doesn't stand very tall, even for her species - 1.2 meters at most when on four legs - but she makes up for it with speed, of which she's got plenty: her chest is very developed, and her wing muscles are thick with power. These last are also strangely wide in comparison to her size, with a length of 1.5 meters for each. They are shaped like a bat's, as most grisskin's are, and are bare except for a thinning cover of feathers at the base of the main arm and spiky growths at the end of her 'fingers'.
History:
Not a lot in Exalok's past makes her different from most of her species. She was born into a pack, reason for the last name she inherited - that of her mother - and so was lucky enough to come to know both of her parents, since her father helped to rear the little hatchlings, as well as the family that was born before her. She was in her parents' second clutch. Before her, three other grisskin had hatched, and she was the second eldest in her own nest. Out of her four clutch-sisters (they were all girls), the one born just after her was the one she liked most, and the two were constantly together. Her youth was a normal one for a young grisskon with extra care: only one of the five little hatchlings in the nest died from the winter cold, and the rest lived calmly until their tenth month; then they became of age, and their parents asked them what they wished to do.
All three of her sisters decided to stay in the pack. Exalok, alone, left to find her own life.
She wandered for a few years, got lost for a few more - nothing happened except for a fight with a territorial male, from which she barely escaped - and then decided to see her family again; the time had gone fast, and she'd told them she would return someday. But when she got to where she had been born and raised, they were gone.
Exalok kept on wandering from then, trying to find out where they've gone. She hears about them occasionally - it's hard to keep a family of eight, probably more after all this time had passed, secret - and knows that one of the eldest in the pack, a brother from the previous clutch, died from a wound during a hunt, and that one of her sisters was sick last time she was seen. She can only hope that her family has not come apart, and that she'll be able to find them at some point along her path.
Powers: none, except for natural flight (wings).
Personality:
Usually quiet, Exalok often starts speaking when the conversation is at a near stand-still. She likes asking questions, simply because even when short and hopelessly vague, the answer could take a year to tell - and listening is her type of thing. She's the quietly cheery type, not actually grin-and-hop joyful but enough to smile and not look like she's got no depth, and though modesty isn't one of her strengths she doesn't mention herself enough to make others believe that she's got an ego like Mount Everest.
But whatever smiles she might wear at first, she's got a temper like nitroglycerin.

APPEARANCE. The grisskon was once believed to be a cousin of the gryphon for its similar appearance, but it has been discovered that their origins divide very early on in history, and it is purely a matter of chance that they come to resemble each other somewhat now.
The fore part of a grisskon looks like that of a bird of prey (falcon, eagle, owl, etc), though their neck is often longer than the original species'. This part is covered in feathers, except for the legs, whose skin can be the same as the bird of prey's but isn't always (in other words, if a grisskon has the forebody of a bald eagle, that doesn't mean it's going to have yellow pebble-skinned forelegs). The hind part is that of a big cat's (lion, panther, cheetah, etc), though the tail can be different as well (a lion hind body doesn't mean the grisskon will have a thin tail with a tuft of fur at the end). The legs may also be longer, though this isn't always the case (it depends on the legs of the forebody). This part is covered in fur, obviously, but crests of feathers from the forebody may continue through the fur in some grisskin. NOTE ON THE WINGS: these can be single or multiple, and unlike a gryphon's wings are not completely feathered (though they are on the forebody side). The main arm will either be covered in fuzz or down, but the leather membrane between each long finger stays clear. It looks more like bats' wings than a bird's.
Grisskin only grow up to 2 meters maximum, usually 1.5 meters.
SOCIAL LIFE. Grisskin are commonly loners, but there have been cases where a father, mother and their young grouped together to form a pack (these are always very small and only include family). Opposite sexes come together usually only for the mating season. However, if a grisskon has already chosen a mate, he or she will always find this one grisskon: mates seem to build a mental link which tells them where the other is and, mainly, whether or not the other is alive. Mates stay together for life unless one of them dies, and then the grisskon may or may not take a new mate. Though they live wild, they have a very human way of thinking about love.
CHILDREN. A month after mating, the female grisskon will lay a clutch of up to five eggs. She will keep them warm for two more months, the father caring for her through both of them, until the babies inside hatch. From then on she will care for them alone, and shoo them off once they reach 9 - 12 months.
DIET. Grisskin are omnivores, but eat meat more often than plants. They particularly enjoy small prey such as mice or fish.
