Can you help me?

Shadow dragged herself to Alba's home, trailing black blood behind her. Alba was the oly one she trusted enough to help her. She knocked haltingly at the door, only managing to stay upright by sheer willpower. Her assassin kit was torn and bloodied, and her shoulders and stomach sported several gunshot wounds, along with more cuts than a buther's shop.

Alba opened the door to find her friend sagging on her doorstep. She stared, then bundled Shadow inside and quickly closed the door. She lay Shadow on the couch and turned the TV off.
"What happened?" she asked frantically.

Shadow gathered her breath for a moment, a pained expression flitting across her face with every breath.
"Something... went wrong. And then... demon hunters added... to the problem." She managed to get out.

Alba saw the amount of blood pouring out of her friend's woulds and ran to the kitchen to get a boul of water and a cloth. She returned and ripped bigger holes in Shadow's tunic to be able to get to the injuries better. The water was soon a scarlet red from the blood and sweat.
Alba felt fear for her friend engulf her. What could have happened? She had thought that Shadow had given killing up for good...

Shadow sensed the thoughts going through her friend's mind. Althought they were very hazy, she could make out the meaning.
"I... never really left... that life." She said quietly. She tried very hard not to wince as Alba tried to help her.

Alba mopped at her friends wounds, trying to understand what pushed her friend to do such a thing. None of it seemed real. It was all like a strange dream.
"What happened?" she asked, cleaning the clothing in the blackening water, "What were you trying to do?"

"Assassin target... saw me... and shot. When I... ran... I was seen... but some... demon hunters..." Shadow explained haltingy.

"Ok, ok," Alba tried to reasure her frined, "Calm down, you'll just make the pain worse."

Shadow took as deep a breath as she could manage, and closed her eyes, trying to relax.

"Right," said Alba, trying to sound like she knew what she was doing, "We're going to try and bandage those wounds and see if... do you think you need to go to the hospital?"

"I can't... go to the hospital... Endanger my... family..." Shadow murmered.

"Oh, right, yeah," Alba trailed off, she'd forgotten about that.
What the hell was the going to do? She had a half dead demon spilling black blood on her couch.
"Can't you're family come to help you?"
For a split second, she thought of Vrael, but pushed the thought away. Her friend's life was in the balance here, there was no time to think about hunky vampires...

"They're... scattered around..." Shadow said. "Don't know... where..."

"But you have a mental link, don't you?"Alba paused, worry showing in her green eyes, "You're dying Shadow, I can't help you. They're the only people I can think of who could help you."
Why don't demons have mobile phones? thought Alba, wishing it was that easy to speak to Vrael.

"Can't open links... no energy..." Shadow murmered.

Alba thought for a momoent.
"Would..." she hesitated, "would it be posible for me to contact them? I know it sounds mad, but you've got nothing to lose, have you?"

Shadow pulled out a small pendant. It looked like a small mirror, about two centimetres in diameter.
"Say... the name..."

Alba took it and examined it as she rolled in about in her hands.
"Who do you want me to summon?"

"Vrael." Shadow said. "He's... a medic."

Alba hid a slight smile, then wondered: How the hell do I do this?

"Just... say the name..." Shadow said.

Alba fingered the pendant and said vrael's name out loud. She waited, anricipation sparkling in her green eyes.

The pendant glowed slightly, and then Vrael's face appeared.
"Shadow, you may possibly have one of the worst senses of timi... Alba!"

"Hi Vrael," said Alba, "Right, no time to chat, Shadow's been wounded, would it be possible for you to come over here? She's at my place... that's 59 Wood Veil Avenue, Maryhill Road, Glasgow."

"On my way at the present moment." Vrael said, and vanished from the pendant.
