| Merlas snorted and leapt forwards at a canter, her hooves drumming on the forest floor, then a gallop before flaring her wings, taking off into the sky. She whinnied with delight, kicking out and shaking her mane as she climbed higher into the sky. The mare glided in and out of the clouds calmly, enjoying the water dripping down her back and legs. She snorted and started her descent towards a lake in the middle of a forest. She landed at a thundering gallop, meaning to slow down gradually as she usually did, but there was a loud snap and a surge of pain shot up her back legs. She had been caught in a human hunter's trap. She was jerked to a halt, crashing down into the undergrowth and falling onto her side. One wing was trapped under her, causing more pain and rendering her unable to help herself. The metal teeth of the bear trap were digging into her legs. She whinnied and neighed in distress,, pulling against the trap as hard as she could, but the trap held on grimly, biting down harder on her fragile limbs. Eventually, she lay still, apart from her ears swiveling and the occasional desperate neigh. She snorted gently, closing her eyes, using her free wing to cover herself.
An hour later, she opened her eyes again, seeing that night had fallen already. She struggled to her hooves, managing to pull one leg out of the trap, but it snapped shut tighter around her other leg. She neighed loudly in pain. She turned her head to lick the blood off her freed leg, whimpering quietly as she held the leg with the bear trap carefully off the ground. She looked around desperately, hoping that there was some one around who would help her.
'I tell you, Val Keshra,' Kaera said, walking fast in the dark, cold forest, 'I know there's something out here.' Kaera sped up her pace, Val Keshra levitating thanks to his telekinetic powers next to her. 'We did not say the contrary, young one,' replied Val Keshra Intunosis, his eyes closed tight, in concentration. His golden armor blinked and shone in the moonlit night. The trees shook as a morbid breeze of cold wind swept by Kaera's baggy pants. Her scarf floated in the wind as she walked towards the sound of alarm she supposedly heard, a few moments before. 'We only said that we have other goals to accomplish.' Kaera glanced at Val Keshra. Despite Val Keshra's stern education on the way of the blade and how to control yourself, Kaera was not going to let something out there, especially if it was hurt. IF there ever was something, anyways. Kaera looked left and right, her hair swaying as she suddenly turned her head to one direction. Back there, she thought. Kaera changed direction, and Val Keshra followed without a noise. Val Keshra made nothingness in his mind, to liberate his maximum telekinesis capacity. He wasn't looking for the being, if there was one. He wanted to see if Kaera Tsuni had improved in orientation and if she was able to decipher her instinct. Kaera fastened her walk. She cornered an old tree, from which the bark was slowly chipping off. She saw a horse that she recognised. 'The pegasus,' she exclaimed, running towards the wounded animal, 'It's hurt! Caught in a trap.' Kaera inspected the metallic object closesly. 'And it's dug into the flesh pretty far, too,' She added. | |
