| Part Demons: Karthragan, Prince of Darkness bloodlineage
Demons and therefore part demons have been in existence since the dawn of time. They normally take on the form of a gigantic fiery animal, but they also have a more humanoid form to be able to fit in, although some demons can shape-shift beyond that form.
Part demons, unlike their full blood counterparts, are rarely as bent on destruction. This writing is to explain the life cycle of a part demon.
At birth, a child is known to be part demon by the fact that for the first day of their lives, they have four eyes resembling that of their demonic parent’s. This happens whether the child will manifest its other side or not during the second stage of development.
During the early years of the child’s life, they will only show their non demonic side, although they will grow at an accelerated rate, covering up to six month’s development in the space of one, although the more the child grows, the slower the growth rate becomes.
At an unknown point between the third and fifth years of the child’s life, the child should manifest their other side to his or herself, normally by means of an outburst of magic or demonic behaviour. However, if the child does not manifest this side, then they are classed as a part demon (non manifested).
A part demon (non manifested) should live their lives normally with their non demonic side completely in control with no demonic interference. They will live longer than normally considered for their other part.
Part demons that have manifested their other side however, will go on to experience both physical and mental changes over the course of three months to a year. These changes include: Physical aspects: - Discolouration of the hair and eyes from original colour - Formation of a second heart - Apparition of certain aspects differing according to the parent demon. Mental aspects: - Formation of a ‘pocket dimension’ within the head, containing the personified emotions of key and frequently used emotions. This dimension is accessed by use of a portal, normally a mirror. - Awakening of the demon side.
During this year of the demonic child’s life, an important decision will be made, notably that of which side of the child’s mind will maintain control. For example, if the demonic side wins, then the child is likely to behave in the same way as their demonic parent. Not all part demons survive this stage of the proceedings, as complications are not uncommon with the formation of the secondary heart.
From this point on, the child will experience, normally for a couple of days a month, a period normally referred to by the part demons themselves as ‘their period of vulnerability’ , or taking a parody of the humans, calling it ‘their time of the month’.
Demons are not immortal, contrary to popular opinion. They heal quickly, and could live for roughly two thousand years. Part demons may live to be immortal, but only if their non demon side is immortal. The oldest part demon known is Caleb Blood Dragon von Neckrark, who died in battle shortly after his 2050 years.
A female part demon can still produce offspring, but contrary to the opinions of some humans, they do not have menstrual cycles. As soon as the female’s body is ready to cope with the birth, then they can reproduce, in the same manner as the humans. Their fertility rate is close to the 99%, leaving little doubt about possible pregnancies. Demonic pregnancies last between three and six months, depending on the demonic content of the blood of the unborn child, because of their accelerated growth rate. | |
