The Journey

"Worry not." Shadow said, rubbing the mare's nose. "Merlas wouldn't hurt many people."

"Indeed...she saved my life..." said Natalie quietly.

"When?" Holly asked, "Why wasn't my life saved?"

"Right before I saed hers...the time I tried to kill myself..." said Natalie without thinking.

"Oh, that's why." Holly said.

Hayley raised her eyebrows. "Soooo....." she said, Shall I light a fire?" she suggested, shrugging.

"I'm sure Shad could start one faster," Holly commented, not to be horrible, but to make a statement.

"Indeed..." Natalie agreed.

"Don't be mean to Hayley, she's just trying to help!" Holly insisted.

Shadow rolled her eyes and muttered a spell before the logs in a small stone circle burst into flame.

"Thank you Shadow," Holly and .... Holly chorused.

"I was not being mean to Hayley..." said Natalie quietly, not wishing to argue.

Hayley patted Natalie on the shoulder. "I know you weren't," she said, rolling her eyes at Holly. "And thankyou Shadow," she added, nodding towards the fire.

"Yeah you were .... Shaaaaaad tell Nat she was being mean to Hayley, they're ganging up on me!" Holly whined.

Hayley sighed and rolled her eyes at Holly. "Will you roll my eyes back Holly?" she asked, staring around as if she were blind.

Holly gave her a look, and ignored her.

Hayley stumbled forwards, and blindly put her eyes back. "Thanks Holly," she said sarcastically.

Saya watched Hayley and Holly half-heartedly. Sankumo flattened her ears, annoyed, and sat herself beside Saya. Saya scratched the tiger's ears absently.

Shadow leant against Merlas' shoulder, absentmindedly playing with her mane.

Hayley sat down, and rested her head against the wall. "I'm bored," she said, not helping the situation at all.

"That doesn't help the situation at all." Holly commented.

Hayley nodded. "I know," she said, pulling her jacket around her.

Shadow sighed, leaning againt Merlas, trying to think.

Natalie came out of her daze, and thought too.

"What are we meant to be thinking about again?" Holly asked after a moment.
