Alone by the glittering stream

Alba gazed into his eyes again, brushing her lips against his.

Vrael closed his eyes, allowing a tear to escape the corner of his eye.

"I love you," whispered Alba, "I just wish we could be together."
She trailed off, resting her head against his shoulder.

Vrael held Alba close, not wanting to let go.

Alba felt tears run down her cheeks. Why did it have to be that way. Couldn't they change anything? For the first time in her life, she had felt as if she really had belonged somewhere, really belonged with someone, and now it was all crumbling away around her.

"Raven may not think so, but I believe that you are the one." Vrael said softly.

Alba smiled, but the tears kept roling down her face.

Vrael hugged Alba close.

((you know, i'm happy for my character in a way, but as i'm writing this, the words 'this is sick, this is sick, this is sick[b]' are still going through my head! lol))

Alba pulled away, wiping her cheeks dry with her sleeve. She wanted to change to a happier subject. She went and sat on the boulder by the straem.
"Isn't it beautiful? Just the sunlight on the water. It taked my breath away..."

"Yes, yes it is." Vrael said, sitting on the ground beside her.

Alba was silent for a while. She gazed into the water, lost in the tangle of memories and day dreams that inhabited her mind. She sighed, closing her green eyes.

Vrael sighed, closing his eyes tiredly.

Alba was silent for a moment, then said:
"Why is raven so... well, stressed all the time? She seems to be angry at everyone..."

"She does not want to live in this dimension, but because the rest of us are here, she feels a certain tie." Vrael said.

Alba thought for a moment. She had the song "Diamonds are forever" by Shirley Bassey stuck in her head. She started humming, resting her head on Vrael's shoulder.

Vrael sighed softly, closing his eyes.

Bart walked heavily on the ground, a bit worried. He glanced at the burnt map the old shopkeeper gave him. This isn't the right map, he thought.
He looked around, looking from where he came from. With a bad sense of position and a wrong map, he wasn't about to get anywhere.
He heard the faint splashing of a river nearby. He continued in the direction of the sound, thinking that he could fill his water bottle with the water from the river.
Bart saw two beings -humans, apparently- sitting side by side. He recognized one of them. 'Alba,' he said, 'what the heck is she doing here?'
He walked towards the humans, still cautious about the unknown person.

Vrael looked up at the newcomer with his silver eyes, but didn't move. He didn't judge this new person to be a threat. If he did indeed turn out to be one, he would be ready to fight to the death.

He noticed that the man looked up at him, causing Bart to flinch. Bart scanned the man. Silver hair and eyes, red clothing and black... pants. It seemed like this person wasn't offending.
Bart nodded, then said, 'To, er, whom do I have the honour?' trying to speak politely. Very politely.

"Vrael Mercian is my name," The silver-haired boy murmured, just loud enough for Bart to be able to hear. He stood up and bowed to the other boy. "May I enquire after your title?"

Bart stood up and noticed the bow was replied. He answered, 'Bart Kraferr is the name.' and Bart then asked, 'Can you guys tell me where the heck I am? There's a geezer who gave me a false map, and I'm pretty much... lost here.' He looked deeply into the other male's eyes. He saw that he wasn't really human. There was something wrong with him. Bart just couldn't set his finger on it.

Vrael held out his hand.
"May I see this map?" He asked.

Alba turned round with a start.
"Bart!" she gave her friend a huge friendly grin, then felt her cheeks burn, hoping he hadn't seen her and Vrael's moment together, "What are you doing here?"
