Shadow's Reign, part two (CnP)

"You," Bart replied quietly, turning his head back to the window, looking at the lights, "well, the old you. Before the prophecy. Duh. But, wouldn't that explain the crisis back at your flat, a year ago?" Bart asked, turning his head once again to the demoness, tilting his head ever so slightly over his shoulder. His tail was still correctly tight in his hand, but it was struggling to get out of his grasp.

Shadow ran a hand through her hair, turning away and starting to pace.
"This shouldn't have happened to you!" She growled, mentally kicking herself yet again for having given Bart her blood. Now it was putting his existence in danger... again.

"Shadow, we've already been through that conversation," Bart replied quietly, turning his back to the window, looking at Shadow. His red eyes glistened in the darkness of his face, the light coming from behind creating a countersun effect to his body.
"Look, we got attacked by one of the assassins," Bart continued, "we both got wounded, and after I had healed you, I went unconscious from blood loss. If YOU hadn't given me YOUR blood, we wouldn't be talking right now. So, no matter when or how it happened, it just did." Bart resumed what he had just said, in one basic word that came out of his mouth like steel just after the long sentence he had just pronounced, "Life."

Shadow gritted her teeth, trying to keep a handle on her emotions.
"It doesn't excuse the fact that you now have a part of my mind in yours and it's trying to get you to go into demonic possession and stay that way!" She said, her hands shaking slightly.

"Then kill me right now!" Bart exclaimed, his red eyes widening in anger, "C'mon! I'm completely defenseless, and I know that with the training you got, you can wipe me out in less than three seconds! Then all of this would be over!" Bart growled at the demoness, trying to keep himself out of his demonic form, clenching his hands into fists, piercing the skin of his palm.

"I won't kill you, I can't kill someone! Not again!" Shadow snarled before she suddenly tensed and morphed in the space of a few seconds into a horse-sized black wolf, her full demonic form. Fire spread from the crest of her head to the base of her spine, and her paws up to her knees also burst into flame.
Great, just great! She thought to herself.

Bart roared as well, going demonic. His eyes flashed bright red, forming four bloodshot pupils. His fur instantly went from brown to purple, as he outstretched his long fingers, letting his claws grow in an exaggerated manner, as his tail whipped at the air behind him.
He kept quiet, bearing his teeth, glinting in the darkness. Sparks flew from his hands, seeping into the ground below. "Shadow, get out of there!" Bart yelled.

The wolf growled low in her throat, signalling that she wasn't going anywhere. The creature's fire died down as she shrink to the size of a normal wolf and changed back into a four eyed Shadow, crouched on the floor, magic in the air around her.
"I'm not leaving," She said.

"Good,' Bart replied harshly, the sparks shooting out of his hands dying down. The spikes coming out from his back retracted, as a loud crunch was heard as his rib cage and shoulder blades changed place. His claws went to their normal size, as his eyes merged and his fur went brown again.
"Look," Bart continued, calming down, "if you did what you did one year ago... Well you did what we both needed at that time. And I shall always be ever so thankful for that."

Shadow took a deep breath, calming herself. The claw-like nails of one hand were digging into the skin of the other hand. As she pulled them off, she left gashes diagonally along her arm. She glanced at them, mentally shaking her head at herself.

Bart looked away, back through the window, sighing deeply, calming himself down just as Shadow just did. His red eyes glistened darkly under his hair, and he crossed his arms again. "So you're my parent demon..." he muttered to himself, "well, I guess I'll have to live with that. Don't have much of a choice, do I now?"

Shadow's gaze had turned to look outside again. She didn't want to continue on the subject of parent demons.
"If you don't mind, I'd like to pay a visit to my family tomorrow..." She said quietly.

"Not like I'm going to stop you," Bart replied quietly, leaning himself on the window, gently hitting it with his forehead. "you can choose whether to see Vrael, Raven and Shaeman and the others as you wish. It's also your choice if I should accompany you, but if you feel confident enough... You get my point. While you're here, I'm not stopping you from doing anything."

Shadow smiled slightly.
"Thank you," She murmured, turning her head to look at the Kraferr. "You could come, if you wanted to, given that you're part of the family."

"Well, part of the family..." Bart repeated, "more or less, yes... I've only got your blood inside my veins... I don't think your siblings or kin would see me as your family... I mean, I, brother of royalty? Hah!" Bart continued, turning his head to the demoness, giving the smile back, "I don't think I'm worthy enough. But I'll come anyways."

Shadow gave a small half smile.
"Technically, you are though," She said, "Just be thankful that you're not a sister of royalty, or you'd be wearing the stupid mask as well."

"Well, I'm just lucky I'm a guy, aren't I," Bart answered, smirking. Bart glanced out the window into the darkness of the night. "We should go sleep. We're both tired, and we've been through a little... Bit too much teleportation for me..." Bart stepped up to the demoness, and nudged her playfully on her shoulder with his fist. "G'night Shadow, see you next morning."

Shadow's half smile grew to a full one.
"Seriously, the day you manage to teleport and end up within five metres of where you want to be, I think we'll have to throw a celebration of some sort," She teased, "Good night Bart,"

The demoness walked silently back to the room Dominique had given her for the time being. She sighed, curling up under the blankets. Another thing she found she missed about Aspheri was the comfortable basket she had there. Pushing those thoughts from her mind, she closed her eyes.

Bart went into his room, where he saw Dominique laid down on the bed, under the covers, seemingly sleeping gently. He wondered how all the noise hadn't woken her up. He threw that question away, now dealing with: Even though I'm in this situation, I am sooo not sleeping with a female in my bed. Especially one who loves me. Bart rolled his eyes. What am I thinking? I don't have time to get through with any of this... I need sleep. Ah well, I'll sleep on the bed... Trying not to wake Dominique... Which is a fairly impossible thing... Bart sighed silently, as he closed the door quietly behind him, walking over to the bed, and delicately sitting on it, then lying himself down completely on it. He casted a few worried glances at Dominique, before putting himself under the sheets. He still stayed cautious before closing his eyes.
Once he felt a sneaky hand overlap on his shoulder, his before calm face became one of exasperation.
"Dominique, don't touch me, I'm trying to sleep here," Bart whispered, not bothering to turn over. Dominique put her head on his neck, just far enough to let her gaze downwards at him, and let him see her.
"Heheheh... It's been quite a while since we weren't in this situation..." Dominique murmured.
"Correction, we weren't ever in this situation; that night, I was in the same room, okay, but I was on the floor," Bart corrected. Dominique nestled closer to Bart, sharing her warmth, as he gulped nervously.
"Good night, Bart..." Dominique murmured, closing her eyes.
"Good night, Dominique," Bart replied quickly, closing his eyes just afterwards.

Although her eyes were closed, Shadow wasn't sleeping. It felt strange, after everything that had happened, she was back on Earth, where she had longed to be not so long ago. Now, she wondered if it wasn't the other way around. However, she needed to think her way through the problem she was confronted with. None of her advisors would be able to help her with this, she needed the advice of her friends...

Bart was the first one up, early in the morning, at 3:00 AM. His eyes were tired, his hair was messy, and his pale taint seemed to have been photoshopped to make it look that way. He grabbed the steaming mug of coffee in front of him, lying on the table, and pulled it up to his lips, gulping it down little by little. He then silently put it back on the table with a faint clank, steam still rising from the cup, as Bart sighed, and sat on the table, taking one of the wooden chairs from under the table. He laid his head backwards, looking up at the ceiling, as he brought the coffe back to his mouth, slurping it quietly.

Shadow rose not long after Bart and quickly dressed before walking through to the room Bart was sitting in, using her fingers to tease out the knots in her long black hair.
"Morning," She said quietly, glancing at Bart.

Bart almost spat out the coffee as he saw Shadow, having forgotten about yesterday. He took hold onto his thoughts, and remembered what had happened before the coffee was hauled everywhere. Instead, he lifted his head, putting the mug of coffee down, and standing up, gently pushing his chair away with his legs. He laid his hands on the wooden table, tilting his head questioningly to the side as he looked at Shadow.
"Morning," he replied quickly, "coffee?"

Shadow smiled slightly at the sight of Bart's surprise. She quickly tied her hair in a high ponytail, rubbing one eye tiredly.
"Er, tea, if you don't mind..." She said before smiling slightly, "Coffee plays havoc with my morphing,"

"Uh huh, but it stays the best way to wake you in the morning," Bart insisted, still walking over to get another mug from the shelf. He turned his head to Shadow tiredly. "While still destroying brain cells," he added sarcastically. He went over to get the rest of the hot water that he had used for the coffee, and he poured it inside the mug. He took out a packet of ta, the only one that there was, and he put the sachet in the hot water, passing the mug to Shadow.
"Ain't the best tea, but it's all that we have," Bart commented, walking over to the table to take another sip of the coffee, "watch out, it's hot."
