Rockslide

Dust settled in the valley as the rockslide came to an end. A small foal pranced around the edge of it. She was a pure, fuzzy black with a white star shape on her forehead. The foal flared her over large wings, whinnying desperately. At the edge of the rocks, there was a flash of purple and white hair.

Shadow Roth lay under the rocks, barely conscious. All she could feel was pain. The rock and stone had imprisonned her, crushing her legs, stopping her from breathing properly. From her shoulder blades down, it was all under stone. A few tears escaped her closed violet eyes. The foal kept prancing around, trying to attract the attention of anyone around.

Natalie apparated to the place where Shadow was, though she was unconcious of her presence. She had come to hunt.

The foal stopped, rigid, and bounded off on her too long legs to try to find Natalie, whinnying desperately.

Natalie sniffed the air.
She smelled something familiar.
"Shadow..." she said, walking out of her hiding place, "SHADOW!" she called louder.

The pegasus foal skidded to a halt in front of Natalie, prancing on the spot. It bounded away a few steps before stopping and looking at Natalie.

Natalie took the hind and followed.
"Where is she?" Natalie asked, "where's Shadow?"

The foal bounded away again to the foot of the mountain, where Shadow lay.
"Midnight... Star." Shadow whispered, and the foal quickly trotted over to the girl, nuzzling her hand.

"Shadow?" Natalie asked, "are you....awake? Are you....alive?" Natalie was fearful.

"Nat?" Shadow croaked. The foal, Twilight Star snorted worridly.

"You're trapped..." said Natalie, taking out her wand.
She muttered a spell to leviate the rock off the ground...and it worked.
She threw it away in the opposite direction.
She kneeled down by Shadow.

Shadow closed her eyes. She wanted to block out the pain, but it was almost impossible. Star lipped at her hair, almost like an attempt to get her to get up as if nothing had happened.

Natalie looked at Shadow.
"I'm going to heal you...but I want you to keep really still if you can...ok?" she said quietly.

Shadow whimpered quietly, but nodded faintly.

Natalie put her wand to Shadow's leg.
"Now...this may hurt a bit..." she said quietly. She muttered a spell, and white light began to go into Shadow's joints and muscles.

Shadow's face twisted into a snarl of pain as she felt the strange magic work its way through her.

Natalie winced slightly as she knew Shadow would be feeling pain.
She took Shadow's hand as she was preforming the spell and gave it a comforting squeeze.

Shadow, trying hard not to cry out in her pain, whimpered quietly.

Natalie continued the spell, still holding Shadow's hand.
"Just another minute Shadow....then it'll be done, I swear."

Shadow nodded slightly, and closed her eyes, drifting into a deep sleep.

Natalie finished her spell, and began to clean Shadow's wounds gentally.

Shadow didn't stir.

Natalie didn't wish was Shadow to stir just now.
She put her wand to Shadow's chest to mend her lungs.

Shadow's breathing eased from its ragged, short gasps to a deeper, more even and silent breathing as Natalie's spell took hold.

Natalie breathed a sigh of relief.
She finished the spell, and looked up at the pegusis who had led her to Shadow.
"You saved her really...thank you," she said to it.
She looked at Shadow.
"She was very lucky you know...if it wasn't for you she would have died..." Natalie pattered the horse.

Midnight Star nickered gently, seemingly smiling proudly.
