The Truth of Death-- CONTINUED.

Shadow frowned in her sleep, occasionally twitching. She was imagining what was going to come soon. What inevitable fight she would have to face

Bart didn't move in his sleep. To be honest, he didn't dream at all. All he had was blankness.
Dominique stared at the two, occasionally closing her eyes, but opening them again. Watching people sleep made people sleepy. She finally closed her eyes, then drifted off to sleep.

Shadow opened her eyes and, seeing the other two asleep, silently stood up, limping away to the centre of the roof, and sitting down to mediate.

Bart fell sideways as Shadow stood up. But he did not wake. he just sprwaled himself upon the floor, and continued sleeping helplessly. Dominique eventually fell down too. They were both sleeping, both dreaming of nothing. Bart's tail flicked twice then or there, but that's all the movements that were there.

Shadow meditated quietly, calming her mind and getting rid of pent up emotions. She sighed, enjoying the silence of the night.

Bart opened his eyes. He noticed Dominique sprawled onto the ground just next to him. He sat up, his eyes glistening. He looked around. Phew.
Bart noticed Shadow. He smiled. He looked up at the moon. The same figure appeared. He looked at Shadow, then back at the moon. A small grin crept along his mouth.

Shadow opened one eye, sensing Bart's consciousness awakening. She frowned, puzzled, as he looked at the moon and then at her. She opened her other eye, looking at him questionningly.

Bart opened his eyes wide. He looked around him. he thought that Shadow had seen something behind him or something. He looked back at Shadow, shurgging, raising one eyebrow. 'What?' he asked, quietly, to not disturb Dominique's sleep.

Shadow shrugged.
"Just your expression." She said quietly, looking up at the skies again.

'Hm,' Bart answered quietly. He looked up at the black sky. The first stars started to lighten up in the cold night. Bart smiled as they did. He took a glance at the moon again. A small gust of wind blew his hair on his face as he did so. He smirked.

Shadow's hair waved slightly in the wind as he gazed at the skies. She closed her eyes, losing herself in the peace that the darkness brought.

Bart stood up and walked over to Shadow, sitting next to her. He cast a glance at Dominique, to make sure she hadn't moved. Everything was okay for now. For now. Bart still didn't quite trust Dominique. He glared at her once more, then looked up in the sky.

- I need to go eat. See you later, if not see you tomorrow! -

Shadow bowed her head, thinking again. She gave a small half smile as Bart sat next to her, feeling at peace for the moment. She knew that it could change within a split second.

Bart stayed there, looking at the sky. He felt recomforted when Shadow was near. Bart managed to close his eyes and smile. He then opened his eyes again, glanced at Shadow, and back at the moon. He laid down on his back, putting his arms in a way to put his head to rest on them. He sighed deeply.

Shadow hugged her knees to her chest, looking up at the stars. She remembered reading them before, always looking for the answers to her problems, as she had learnt back in Synairn. She didn't bother now, she knew that there was no way out of her current problem.

Bart looked at the moon, and closed his eyes. He thought about the near future. The prophecy. He couldn't get his mind off it. Especially that Shadow would die. He didn't want her to die. Not like this.
But it seemed like there was no other way.

Shadow was thinking about her death, leaning her head back as she looked at the moon. Her violet hair brushed the ground lightly as a breeze ruffled it. A small smile played on her lips as she thought of Arella. She knew that she was going to die, but she was taking Karthragan with her, and that was revenge enough for her mother's death all those years ago.

Bart looked at Shadow, and noticed her expression. It's been a long time since I've seen someone smile, even though something bad was going to happen and they knew it, Bart thought. I would like to be able to do that.
Bart leaned forwards, his hair streaming in front of his face. His eyes glistened. He smiled a bit as he caught a glimpse of the moon.

Shadow sighed, thinking about all that she would be leaving behind with Death. Her expression grew sombre. Her friends, her family, everything she had hoped for since her birth. A place where she was accepted as something other than a freak. She was leaving everything behind.

Bart sighed, and put one arm on his flexed leg. He looked at Shadow. He glanced back at the shining moon, but then again at Shadow. His tail flicked multiple times against the floor. He was sure that Shadow was thinking of something unplausible now, looking at her face. He didn't really want to guess what.

Shadow began to sing softly, an old lullaby she had listened to Arella sing when she was a child. It was in Synari, speaking of the sunrise and the birds, the flowers. It reminded her of when her life had been a lot less complicated, when she had been too young to realise the full implications of death and what consequences it brought on the world you left behind.

Bart listened carefully to the elegant song. He closed his eyes and smiled. 'That's a pretty song,' he answered, smiling slightly at Shadow. 'Kraferric songs aren't that good.' he added, with a slight chuckle. Bart's eyes glistened. He looked up at Shadow.

"Thanks. Arella used to sing it to me before I was handed over to the Senate, and my time with her was limited severely." Shadow's face darkened as she remembered er time spent with the Senate, only escaping thanks to the person she saw as her father in all but blood.

Bart noticed Shadow' face. 'Don't think about things you don't want to think about. Try to brush them out of your mind. If you can't, that means that there's no way to take it out. And that's bad.' Bart answered. He didn't really know what to say, other than this.

"I will soon be alongside Arella again. I will have avenged her death at last. The dark thoughts were of the Senate of my home dimension. Times I wish had never happened." Shadow said quietly, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.
