Deep in the Forest

"I hate me visions..." sighed Natalie.

Hayley appeared suddenly beside Natalie. "Hey," she said, greeting her friends. Then she looked at the other girl, who she did not know. "Hey, who're you?" she asked, then realised she sounded rude, said, "Sorry, I mean...nice to meet you, I'm Hayley," she said, smiling slightly.

"She actually meant who are you," Holly clarified, "Seriously."

Alba eased a bit. She didn't think these people meant her any harm. They were a but mad... but then again aren't we all. She stepped forwards and shook the outstreched hands.
"Hi, I'm Alba Manticora," she said, "You appeared so fast i didn't have time to change back. I was being stupid morphing in broad daylight. I've never met anyone like me before!"

Shadow shrugged.
"There aren't many, I can say that, but most of us can morph."

"I've never met anyone with the same powers as me before. Anyone with any power as a matter of fact."
Alba then remembered something and said:
"But i can usually sense people close to me. My senses must be on the blink cos you all surprised me."

Shadow smiled.
"I do the same. And don't worry about us surprising you again. You can hear Hol a mile off, Nat doesn't sneak up on people, and I normally just don't approach."

"Thanks," Holly said, a little offended. She thought. "Meh thats true."

"I know it's true Hol." Shadow said.

"Yeah it is," Holly agreed dismissively.

"So," Alba hesitated, then made up her mind and said, "What are you doing here? Where did you come from?"

Holly decided on a very stuborn answer, as was her nature.
"We might ask you the same question," she said wisely.

Alba smiled at her. She like the girl already. She always liked a bit of compitition.
"Well, I go to the boarding school in the city. I moved over from France and can speak fluent french (I can actually in real life). I've been able to morph for... ever realy. Wat 'bout you?"

(Am I alowed to choose the place? Coz i started the topic in the woods on the outskirts of the city where Alba Manticora's boarding school was set. It's somewhere in England. Somewhere...)

"I'm, albeit it's not that hard to imagine, from another dimension. I'm here for my own safety." Shadow said.

Holly grinned back.
"You've been about then," she said, "Nat why dont you explain our story."

"Well..." Alba sat on the mossy ground of the forest and started to tell her story.
She told the girls how her parents had died in an accident when she was two, so she had never really know them. She had been sent to live with her mother's sister in France and had lived there until about three weeks ago. The name Manticora had been her fathers but she idn't know if he of her mother had had the gift to morph into a Manticore. Her aunt didn't know about her powers and Alba was determined to keep it that way.
Alba had been in several schools, but always managed to get thrown out somehow. She told the girls about the time when she had pushed a girl in a fight. It had only been self defence (aka the girl has grabbed Alba by the hair and yanked her head bekwards, hard) but the girl was sent flying and ended up several feet away. She wasn't badly hurt, just a few scratches and bruses, but Alba had been expelled for it.
After that incident, Aunt Lucinda had sent Alba to stay in a boarding school in England. And that's where she was now.

"That's a long story." Shadow remarked.

Holly realised her mouth was open and closed it.
"Yup," she agreed with Shadow.

"What about yours?" asked Alba, trying to end the awkward silence.

"Huh..." Holly said thoughtfully, "Its about as long as yours.....Ill try and say it all in one sentence. Okay-"
She took a deep breath.
"So I was born in December sixteen years ago, on Christmas to be exact and lived in Ireland with my parents and no siblings till I was eleven and my parents were killed by Death Eaters in my house and I got my Hogwarts letter the same day and so went there and met Shadow and Nat and then I got expelled cause I hexed a teacher twice in one day."
She grinned.
"One breath baby!"

"Holly, I'm not sure if that's an exploit or not..." Shadow pointed out.

"Its main grounds kiddo," Holly said reasonably.

Shadow sighed, shaking her head.

"Dont shake that head of yours at me," Holly said jokingly.

"So where are you heading? I'm off school today, so i don't hav anything to do. Could I come with you? Wherever your going that is..."
