Together (Alba and Shadow)

"I can fend for myself," Alba protested. Well, she hoped she could. She didn't know what they were up against. She didn't know how powerful they were.

Vrael growled quietly.
"It be not that I doubt your capabilities, I fear for your safety."

Alba was silent for a minute. It was strange having someone say that to her. Her wanted to keep her safe. No one had ever bothered about her before. Her aunt Lucinda thought only of herself, no one had cared about her at school, and her parents had died when she was two. It felt strange to her.

Vrael strode down into one of the lower corridors of the towers. He opened one rather heavy looking door.
"This was my cell while I resided here. I wish ofr you to rmain here until the battle has concluded."

"But what are you going to do? I'm not staying here worried sick while you go do all the exciting stuff! What if you die?! I want to be by your side if anything happens."
Alba folded her arms across her chest and stared into Vrael's silver eyes, just to prove her point.

Vrael gritted his teeth.
"No. What whould happen if you are hurt?"

Alba looked away. She didn't want to part with him. He was the only being she'd ever felt so strongly about before, and couldn't bear to think what would happen to her if he got hurt. But after a few seconds, she gave in.
She stepped towards him and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him close to her.
"Just be careful," she whispered, "I could't bear it if you got hurt."
And with that, she lent up, and pressed her lips against his.

Vrael was slightly surprised, but kissed her back gently before pulling away. He gave Alba the sword that had baan hanging on his hip.
"If something may be wrong, use it." He said.

Alba gazed onto Vrael's silver eyes. She took the blade, feeling the weight in her hands. She wanted to grab him and shout 'Don't go!' but knew better, and simply said:
"Be careful..."

"I will." Vrael said, looking at Alba sadly before departing, deep red cloak billowing behind her.

Alba gazed after him until he was out of sight, and then turned round to examine the room. She went to sit on a chair in a corner. She drew the sword out of it's sheath. It was heavier than she'd expected, but she would still be able to use it is the time should come.

Vrael returned several hours later, smiled at Alba and collapsed.

((waaa...?? well that was fast...))

Alba dropped the sword and ran to kneel beside him.
"Vrael! Are you alright? What happened?"
She helped him to his feet, her heart racing.

Vrael managed to pull himself up again before ripping off the chestplate on his armor, a dagger was lodged in his side, preventing his from breathing properly.
"I... had to... see if you... were well..." He gasped.

"Oh my god" murmured Alba, "her, sit down. We need to get this out. Are there any doctors available ((lol, i wish there were))? An infirmery?"

"If only. They don't... care about... having one less... demon to be worried... about." Vrael said.

"Well I do," replied Alba shakely, "Let's see if we can get this out. If you can stop the internal bleeding, we can bandage it."

Vrael bit his lip, nodding. He grasped the hilt of the dagger,his face contorting slightly in pain.

Alba shuddered at the thought of pulling a dagger out of a living and feeling being, but placed her hands on the hilt of the knife and pulled sharply.

Vrael didn't scream, but snarled in pain. He put his hands over the gash it had left, through which black blood was pouring again.

Alba looked around and spotted a pair of curtains. She ran over to them and ripped a strip from one. As the did so, she looked out side and noticed dark shapes hovering in the sky. She hurried back to Vrael and helped him to bandage the wound with the light blue satin.

"Thank you." Vrael managed to say, wincing as he touched the bandage.

Alba exhailed slowly. She could feel her heart racing in her chest. Then anger sparked inside her.
"Who did this?"

"The enemy." Vrael said quickly.

"But who? Who is the enemy?"
