A bad omen...

"You're welcome." Shadow said quietly, staying half hidden in the darkness. She smiled slightly, and started to move onwards.

Heh, Bart thought, complicated thanking, simple answer. He smirked.
He walked along siding by Shadow, being careful not to get lit by the lights, and still cautious if a consciousness were to appear.

Shadow walked silently, keeping one hand on the hilt of a sword. She was keeping an ear out for anything that may be a threat. With their injuries, neither Bart nor Shadow were on any state to go into combat.

Bart stopped near a corner of the street. His ear twitched, and he laid one palm on the ground. 'That's not normal...' He said, his fur rising, 'I feel about a small troop of heavy beings. It seems like... Like...'

Shadow sniffed the air, dropping into a low stance to stay hidden.
"I can't identify the smell." She said quietly. "What do you think it is?"

'Kraferrs. No doubt the Ku' Rutiek clan. But what are they doing out here?' Bart thought of the info the other Kraferr gave to him about the Ku' Rutiek.
'The Ku' Rutiek are mostly composed of Outlaws, One. Watch out for them.'
Sh*t, Bart thought, and his face darkened. Would they know about Shadow helping him already with the quest? Let's hope not.
'Shadow,' Bart whispered, 'We need to get the hell out of here, as quickly as possible, as silently as possible.'

"I can't teleport us at the moment," Shadow said, "I'm sorry, there isn't much I can do. Unless you can think of something, then we had better run..."

A group of twelve heavily armored Kraferrs slowly marched in front of Shadow and Bart. Without thinking, Bart grabbed Shadow under the upper part of the body and jumped as high as he could, hoping that he would reach the buildings' rooftop. He grabbed the ledge with his second hand, and tried to heave himself up. He couldn't.
He then started to rebound off the wall, bouncing further and further as he did it continuously, and he used all the centrifugal force he had obtained to use in in one great push, making both Shadow and Bart appear onto the rooftop of the building. He clenched at his wound, hurting. He hoped Shadow didn't notice.

Shadow hit the roof, and lay dazed for a moment. Shaking it off, she noticed Bart crouched over his wound.
"Come here, I'll try and heal that for you." She said quietly. Although her voice was gentle, there was an order implied beneath the words and the tone. She wasn't about to take no for an answer.

'Fine for me,' Bart said, hanging over the ledge to see when the Kraferrs had gone. This will get annoying, he thought, if the Ku' Rutiek clan just wanders around like that. They were surely the outlaws.

"Bart..." Shadow said, menace now layering her voice. For a moment, she resembled Raven. She crouched next to Bart, taking his arm and putting her hand over the wound. She released her magic into it, focusing her mind on healing over the wound. She didn't care about her temperature or pulse at that moment, she was concerned about Bart.

'Well, what?' Bart said, letting Shadow heal his wound, 'I had to go here if we didn't want to get seen by the Ku' Rutiek outlaws.'
He felt the wound getting healed little by little. It had a relaxing feeling.

Shadow finished healing the wound and sat back, looking out over the sleeping city. She remembered when she first came to this dimension, and crouched on top of a building, like she did now, but it was almost three centuries since then.

She checked her pulse. Yup, still twice as fast as normal, and she guessed that she was still running a temperature. Shadow mentally shrugged, looking out over the city again.

Bart peered over the ledge of the building slowly. He glanced left to right. Good, he thought, no more Ku' Rutiek. Bart looked at Shadow, noticing her, lost in her thoughts.
'Makes you nostalgic,' Bart said, looking at the moon, 'Doesn't it?'
He noticed still the same figure above in the moon, and he smirked.

"Not really," Shadow murmured before going on to explain. "Bad memories." She rubbed the half-circle scar around her eye, which usually meant she was thinking about her demonic family.

Bart hadn't noticed the mark before. He glanced at it, and wondered if she was talking about her family when she said that. Puh, Bart thought, I don't even think about it like I'm supposed to. It must feel terrible to have even part of your family against you.
Bart's face darkened at the thought. I couldn't go far without mine...

Shadow's hand clenched into a fist.
"I think we sould keep moving before that tribe turns up again." She said, standing up. For once, she was glad she wore black. Now her blood wouldn't show up against it.

'You're right', Bart said, 'We need to continue.'
Bart jumped first, landing with a short thump on the ground. Shadow, don't think I didn't notice the blood on your clothes, he thought, looking up at her, Demonic blood can be smelled out quite easily, especially for a Kraferr whom's scent is one of their greatest senses.

Shadow jumped, landing silently. At first, she stumbled, but regained her balance. Leaning against the wall, she caught her breath before standing up properly and looking at Bart.
"Let's go."

'As you wish,' Bart answered, starting to walk off, in the same direction, northwest, but still aware and cautious of any upcoming danger or threat, which would both put Shadow and himself in peril at their state.

Shadow followed, walking slightly behind Bart. She was on alert for any more danger. She made a mental note to re-stitch her wound next time they stopped. She could feel them disintigrating with her acidic blood.

Bart continued to walk, forcing himself to ignore the effects made by the recent demonic blood transfer. His head was turning, making him not walk straight. His eyes also saw dimmer and brighter spots, and he felt pain in his body, as it tried to fight against the intruding blood.

Shadow noticed that Bart wasn't walking straight, and gently put a hand on his shoulder, trying to help him. She guessed that it was the beginning of the blood starting to take effect.

'I'm sorry,' Bart said, his face straightening, 'I just can't help the Kraferr metabolism. I need to take a rest.' Bart laid down onto a small bench, throwing his head back and taking a big gasp of air.

"I shouldn't have given you my blood..." Shadow said quietly, sitting next to him. "You have no reason to be sorry." She leant her head back, and gazed at the stars, looking for the answers that she needed.
