A bad omen...

Shadow ignored Vrael's stunned looks, trying to think of what was going on with Bart, but she knew. The demonic blood was taking over the human, wreaking its changes over Bart's body.

Bart tried to stand up, but his muscles were tensed. They were so tensed he couldn't flew them. His tail stood straight, and a trickle of blood dripped from his half-opened mouth. He watched his fur as it slowly changed purple. His hands twitched, piercing his slightly bronzed skin under his shirt.

"Stay still!" Shadow ordered, pushing Bart down with one hand. "Keep calm, and try to relax..."

Alba quickly noticed that her cheery 'hello' was slightly misplaced. She stared at the fur on her friend's body, watching it turn purple. She glanced at Vrael, giving him a faint smile and a questioning look. What's going on? it said.

Bart was pushed down by one hand. His arms and legs were sprawled on the road diagonally. His tail thudded the ground multiple times. His hands twitched, his claws scraping the tar from the ground. His whole body was tensed, and he couldn't move. His heart was beating extremely fast, and he was worried that it would go too fast.

Alba knelt beside him, worry showing in her bright green eyes.
"Is there anything I can do?" she asked no one in particular.

'The bracelets,' Bart uttered, thinking that the secret was revealed, and it wouldn't matter now if he took them out in front of Vrael, 'They're in my pocket. If you can manage to put them on my arms, the effects will probably falter.'
Bart twitched. His tail thudded the ground. His purple fur waved as cold wind blew through it and his clothes.

Shadow grabbed the bracelets, quickly putting them on Bart's wrists. She tried to think of any possible potions to use to help her friend, but her stock was back at her home, and there wasn't anything she could do now.

Bart sighed, turning over. His tail flattened itself on the ground, and he put his hand on his chest. His heart was still beating very fast. He looked at himself as his fur became brown again. The former brown. Let's just hope, he thought, that next time I take them off, this doesn't happen again. Or else...

Shadow sat back, trying to get coherant thought through her mind. Unfortunately, the personified emotion known as Panic had taken over her thoughts. She tried to think of a way to aleviate the symptoms, but was drawing up a blank.

Sither kept staring at the wall, but little did Bart know that he saw the whole scene, and concluded what happened, why it happened, and how.
Bart laid on the gravely ground. He rested as his heart was still beating very fast. He was trying to calm himself down, but the Kraferr body reflex is that it sends pulses of adrenalin through the body to keep it at full state when the blood is circulating fast (because it 'thinks' that the body is in danger), so it was impossible for Bart to calm down, thus it worried him, because he felt faint, and he was going to go unconscious if it kept up like this.

"Vrael, do you have that vial of Salent?" Shadow asked her brother.
The vampire wordlessly handed over a small vial of silvery liquid.
Shadow turned back to Bart. "This will take out the emotion from your system for a few minutes. It'll let you calm down."

Bart nodded, in sign of agreement, though he couldn't lift his arm to take the potion; it was tensed so much previously that he had a contorsion --Does that even exist, or I forgot the word...--.
He did a sign with a slight movement of the head to Shadow and let her pour it into his mouth.

Shadow unstoppered the vial, and gently tipped it towards Bart's mouth. She hated the stuff, as it had been used almost constantly in her home dimension to keep her under control.

Bart gulped, and his face went screwy. He coughed, closing one eye, and put a hand on his chest. He asked, 'WHAT is that?' His tail flicked slightly, brushing the ground from it's tiny rocks.

"It's called Salent. It takes out all emotion from your mind temporarily." Shadow explained.

Bart uttered a short, 'Hm?', and felt the effects beginning. A wave of relaxation flowed into his body, and he rested on the hard ground. His muscles untensed, and his tail softly laid itself on the road. Bart closed his eyes, and smiled a bit.

Shadow sat back, putting the stop back on the vial and handing it back to Vrael.

Bart breathed in deeply, and slowly. He could feel his heart slowing down by the second. He thought of the rumour the Kraferr told him. It's like if the walls were moving...
If the walls really moved, the whole group would be in a bad situation. But I cannot fail right now. The walls move. Hm. C'mon, try to find a way to figure out not to get lost...

Shadow curled up on the grass, moonlight reflecting off her eyes. So much had been happening recently, and she needed to think about it for a few moments. However, her eyelids drifted shut, and she fell asleep.

Bart thought, so, Vrael didn't kill me. I would've expected different.
A small cold breeze shook his hair and clothes, and he closed his eyes, and rested on the road. The trees shook as the wind blew through them. Bart smiled slightly in one corner of his mouth.

Alba made her way to Vrael's side.
"Bart seems to avoid even eye contact with you," she said, "Why? It's almost as if he's avoiding you."
She looked up into Vrael's eyes, hoping to find the answer.

Vrael sighed, looking down at the half-fletched arrows in his lap.
"As far as my understanding of the situation goes, both Shadow and Bart are injured. For example, I cannot hear Shadow's primary heart, but the very rapid beat of her secondary. Bart's injuries lay mystery to me, but I smell demon blood. I am guessing that Shadow made a transfer..."

So Vrael does know, Bart thought, well, let's hope it doesn't get any further than that.
Bart stood up shakily, then tried to stabilize himself. He didn't really think it was the moment to say this, but, if he didn't say it, they would still be here tomorrow.
'We need to go to the forest ahead. That's where the necklace is.'

Shadow qcowled, pushing him down again.
"The necklace can wait until tomorrow. I can still hear it." Vrael raised an eyebrow at this, but Shadow continued. "You need to rest and get the hang of your new power before it destroys you."
