A bad omen...

Destroys me, Bart thought, eh, that's cute.
Bart obeyed Shadow's demand, and calmed down. He tried to stay awake, but soon his eyes closed by themselves, and he began dozing on the firm ground. His uncomfortable position did not stop him from sleeping, since he was just too tired. Lots of things happened today.

Shadow took up her medative postion, starting to calm her mind. Vrael kept casting her questioning looks, which she purpousfully ignored.

Bart dreamt. Or, more precisely, nightmared.

He dreamt he had the necklace. He was brining it back to the Kraferrs. He arrived at the location of the Ku' Rutiek. He went into a dark alley, and put his hand on a doorknob. The doorknob was rusty and cold. His hand was shaking. He clinged firmly onto the knob, the opened it.
He saw nothing in the room. He heard nothing. He smelled something. An odor of... decomposition. Bart threw himself out of the room. No need to know any more information to know what happened.

Shadow ept an eye on Bart's reactions, knowing that he would be unpredictable during the short transformation period. Her thoughts slowly turned to a time, 329 Synari years ago, whe she first manifested her demon side.

Meran was watching her like a hawk as she tried to brew her potion without fault. She carefully added an ingredient, and heard the slow rasp of metal. She immediately knew what was happening, she started to run, but the cold metal bit into her back, igniring a flame of pain as it was dragged down her skin.
"Wrong again, Allyssianne" Meran snarled, but Shadow wasn't paying attention. Black magic formed in an aura round her hands, spreading to cover her whole body. Four red eyes glowed under her black hair, and she, for the first time, was able to strike bac at Meran.

That was the last time anyone called her by her human name, and the last day she was considered as a human in all but blood.

The vision changed quickly. Bart was now in the middle of a white room, with the necklace in his hand. A voice echoed through the room. His voice. The necklace shone, and burst into shards like broken glass, spearing Bart's body here and there. He laid on the ground, the blue gem of the broken amulet on his chest. He was bleeding everywhere. The white room soon became red.

Shadow's eyes opened rapidly. She didn't want to remember Meran, nor Synairn. It wasn't her home anymore. It was more of a prison, a place she was always watched like a criminal. She scowled, glaring at the ground. Her hand gently touched the wound on her chest, wincing at the flash of main. At least it had stopped bleeding. That was at least a start.

Bart woke, but preferred not opening his eyes, in case Shadow was looking. He didn't think Shadow wouldn't notice, but at least he'd have tried. He thought that the previous dreams weren't supposed to be worried about. After all, they were just dreams. And why would all the Kraferrs die, anyways? And what question would he ask so that his life would be taken?
He didn't really know, but he felt nervous.

Shadow closed her eyes again, starting to listen to the songs of everything around her. Through these, she tried to locate the necklace, thinking of the distinctive Kraferr song. She could hear Bart's, the song of his Kraferr side, slightly tainted by the demonic blood now.

Bart felt a soothing wave come over him. He didn't want to move. It just felt so... calming. Bart smiled slightly, not caring now if Shadow noticed. The necklace wasn't far, he was sure of that. They would get it tomorrow. Or after tomorrow.

Shadow felt the emotions from Bart, but blocked them out as she had learnt to do years ago. She opened one eye, looking down at him, smiling slightly herself. Everything seemed to be peaceful, so peaceful. It soothed her empathy to feel it, and it also soothed her mind. The prophecy hardly bothered her at that moment.

--Hm. Aba's not going to answer in a long time. Do we still wait for her?--

Bart opened his eyes slightly, and gazed at the shining moon. The same figure appeared. The same person. A person he could recognize at any moment. He smiled. He glanced at his watch. Morning should be soon. Let's just hope no human will see them.

- Dunno... -

Shadow curled up into a ball at Bart's side, taking advantage of the calm armosphere around them as she drifted off to sleep. Vrael kept a close eye on her, ready to react to any signs of problems occuring within his sister's mind.

Bart glanced at Shadow. He felt safer when Shadow was there. He was always anxious that an Outlaw would come and attack him by surprise, but Shadow's trained, and knows how to defend. Bart thought about the assassin. He closed his eyes tight. But I don't know how to protect.

Shadow's breathing evened out as her sleep grew deeper. Vrael closed his eyes, concentratin on her rapid heartbeat. He knew Shadow would never accept to be healed, and most likely ick his butt if he tried. His face set into a grim expression, hoping that things would turn out ok.

Bart sighed a little. He carried on thinking, gazing at the glittering moon, that shone in the cold and dark sky. Te moon made clouds look like morbid faces. The few trees that were planted around the group were looming over them, with their arms and deathly claws sticking out.
Oooh, scary, Bart thought, sarcastically. He's seen worse. You always see worse when you're accompanied by a demon.

Shadow drew her sword, and began to sharpen it with long rasping sounds. Vrael returned to fletching his arrows. Neither of the siblings spoke for a few moments until Vrael addressed his sister in Demonic. Shadow replied snappily, but Vrael responded calmly for a few more lines, even thought it was painfully obvious that Vrael's temper was fraying.

Bart couldn't understand demonic, and it may be good that way. He didn't want to know what the two were talking about. He hoped that they were not talking about Shadow and him. A wave of nervosity splashed on him as he thought that.

Shadow was suddenly on her feet, facing off against the now very p*ssed off Vrael. The two clenched fists, eyes turning red. Shadow was surrounded in an aura of black magic, wheras Vrael's was red.

Bart stood up by reaction, and put himself in the way of the two. He wasn't very comfortable, being in the line of attack of two well-trained killers, but he didn't want anything between the two happen, especially combat. 'Hey!' he exclaimed, 'What do you think you guys are doing, eh? You're not going to kill each other right now! Especially not right now.'

Shadow's magic flickered as she heard Bart's voice, but Vrael took the oppertunity to strike. Shadow kicked out fiercely at Vrael, throwing him back. Her eyes had faded from their glowing crimson, but Vrael's hadn't. He hit out with both magic and fist, right towards Shadow's healing heart. The demoness fell to the ground with a shout. Vrael was about to strike again when he stopped, and his nose twitched. Blood. Shadow's blood. The red eyes faded from his face.

Bart lunged at Vrael, swiftly went behind him, and put his right hand under Vrael's neck, and two claws from his left hand ready to pierce Vrael's eyes. He cursed.
'What the hell do you think you're doing, Vrael?!? I don't know what's stopping me from disabling your eyesight right now, but it sure ain't pity!'
Bart's fierce red eyes glistened in the darkness. His long canines were showing.
This isn't how I thought Vrael to be like...

Vrael didn't move, he didn't try to pull away from Bart. His eyes were fixed on his sister, curled in a half ball on the ground.
"You need not worry," Vrael murmured. "it has passed."

'I can't trust you, Vrael,' Bart said, letting Vrael slip away. Not like I did before, but now it's totally a no.
Bart laid down next to Shadow, examining her wounds. She was hit exactly on her secondary heart location. Bart approached his head to Shadow's chest, hoping the heart was still beating.

Shadow had her arms crossed over the wound, her brow furrowed in either pain or concentration.
"He missed," Shadow murmured, "he just broke a rib, that's all."

'Yes, but a broken rib stays a broken rib. Permission to heal you, please,' Bart said, as he only loosened one silver bracelet, and thinking about what he thought earlier. A wound that smudged together. Faint black magic sprouted out of his right hand's index.
