"I long for home..."

Posydon sat crosslegged in a corner. He missed his scimitar terribly.
"I apologise for my uncle's behaviour," he said finally, "I knew he was mad, i just didn't realise how mad."

"It is ok." Vrael said in his level, pensive voice. "Our father is pretty much the same."
"Don't talk about him!" Shadow snapped, her glare ready to kill someone.
"I apologise." Vrael continued. "She does not like captivity, and the subject of our origins is somewhat touchy."

Posydon smiled.
He stared at his webbed fingers. He should have known that his uncle wouldn't let them through as easily as that. He should have known...
A wave of guilt washed over him. It was his fault that these people were trapped here with him.

Shadow continued to pace, and Vrael watched her.
"So, that went badly, I assume." He said. "Have you any inkling of what may happen next?"

"Well," Posydon thought for a moment, "knowing my uncle, he'll probably want to sacrifice us."
The Aquarian said the words matter-of-factly, but fear started to knaw at him inside. He knew the tradition. Traitors were led to the stone alter on the edge of the city and their blood was spilt into the currants of the deep blue ocean by the royal scimitar. The problem was, that scimitar belonged to him, and Posydon would do anything to get it out of his uncle's grasp.

Vrael pondered on this for a few moments.
"Shadow... How much do you remember from Hitler's speechs?"
"Quite a bit, why?"
"Can you get the Aquarians on our side?"

"I don't think it will work. Even though Hitler was an admirable speach maker, he was corrupt, and the Aquarians think the same of us. They will not fall for anything of the sort, albeit their currant position."
Posydon examined the tattoo of a squid on his right fore arm. Hmm, he thought, I slipped slightly there. I might have to go over that tentacle again when we're out of this mess.

Vrael returned to his pondering before talking to his sister again.
"Shadow, could you not use your elevated status?"
"Vrael, my 'royalty' is pretty much only a title!"
"But still..."

Posydon frowned, not quite comprehending what they were talking about, but decided not to ask. He gazed into space thinking of the group of guards who had escorted them to the city. They were still on his side. They stood by him, and that gave him strength.

"Please Allyssianne!" Vrael engouraged.
"Don't EVER use that name." Shadow growled.
"Then just do it!"

Shadow scowled, made sure that the head dress was still on and walked over to the cell door, knocking on it.

"What is she doing?" asked Posydon. He got up and walked over to the bars that imprisonned them.
((we seem to have forgotten that this is all happening underwater...))

((... well, the demons have that charm, and Posydon can breath underwater...))

Vrael looked at Posydon.
"I persuaded Shadow to use her rank to try and get us out of here and finish our mission down here."

Posydon thought for a moment as the demons carried out their plan. He thought it unlikely that any of the guards would help them, but trying never hurt anyone...

Shadow thought for a few moments.
"Hello?" She said, "Anyone there?"

A guard walked up to the cell, his spear pointed at them. He said a few words in Aquarian, then looked at Posydon, leaving him the task of translating.
Posydon sighed.
"He says that he's not supposed to talk to us so we'd better make it quick."

Shadow sighed.
"Tell him that under dimensional curtosy law 48553B, messengers are not allowed to be detained, and under the law 48554A, Rulers of other dimensions are also not allowed to be detained."

Posydon stared at Shadow for a split second, then turned to the guard and started translating. After a few words, he turned to the demoness and said:
"What was it again? 48553B and 48...what?'

"48554A." Shadow said quickly.

Posydon nodded in thanks and continued translating for the guard. The Aquarian looked at him with a bewildered look, then quickly said something and left.
"He says he'll go ask the jailor," said Posydon with a smile on his face.

"Phew." Shadow said. "Memorising those codes did come useful then." She and Vrael exchanged a glad look, and Shadow started to pace again.

"Thankyou for trying to help me," said Posydon, leaning against the wall again, "but i fear it will not do much good. My uncle is clearly demented and does not see reason in the same way we do. I predict his desition to execute us."

"Ah, but not under the laws. If he does that, my dimension goes to war... both of them..." Shadow added the last bit with a look of disgust on her face.
"In any possible scenario, we must try our best." Vrael said.

"War is the last thing my people want. But my uncle does not see that. He has been driven mad by power and would stop at nothing to get it."
The amount of hate he felt for his uncle surprised Posydon. He hadn't felt that much hatred for anyone before.

"Hmm," Shadow said thoughtfully. "I think I have a few ideas..."

"After you," said Posydon with a smile.
