The Secret

"At least." Holly muttered, "C'mon Nat, I don't feel safe here anymore."

Shadow bowed her head.
"I should go. I have caused enough pain to both of you." She murmered.

"The pain comes from you not telling us." Holly said quietly.

Shadow, who had tured her back, looked back over her shoulder.
"What was I supposed to say? Humans don't take death as well as we do."

"Whatever." Holly said sighing lightly.

Shadow sighed as well, and started to walk away.

Natalie stood still.
"I know which way I should go...but I don't want to...because I don't want to leave either of you behind..." said Natalie quietly.

Shadow looked back over her shoulder, face carefully expressionless.
"Leave me behind Patterson. There is no future for me with you."

"Patterson?..." said Natalie, "right...not to be rude...but I am Natalie...Nat to you...not Patterson!"

Shadow didn't reply, turning back and walking away.

"Nat." Holly said through gritted teeth, "Hurry. Up."

Shadow melted into the... shadows, walking away from Holly and Natalie, shutting them out of her new life.

TWO POINT SEVEN DAYS LATER

Holly sat in her flat (Rhyme ), staring out of the window ... a large tub of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream on her lap. Her comfort food.
If I were to die sometime soon, I would be very sad, she thought.

UNKNOWN to Holly, there was someone in her block of flats, creeping closer to hers.

Holly, apparently UNKNOWING, had her ipod on, and so could only hear Fall Out Boy, and no other sounds.

Shadow used her magic to silently pick the lock, and then entered Holly's apartement.

Realising her ice cream was finished, Holly stood and made her way into the kitchen, feeling sorry for herself.
It was Friday night.
And she was there.
Alone.
Instead of out.

Shadow darted behind a wall as Holly wandered past. She silently pulled a pistol out of her pocket.

Oblivious to the goings on and the pistol .. ness, Holly put the empty carton back in the freezer, and started back to the living room ... to get there she had to walk past the same wall that Shadow was behind. Of course she didnt know this .. but still.

Shadow took a deep breath. Steadying the pistol on her other arm, she moved out from behind the wall and took aim.

Holly swore in surprise, and jumped backwards, staring at Shadow in surprise.
"What the -?"
She couldn't finish the sentence.

Shadow's eyes narrowed, taking a more definite aim, and took a deep breath before putting her finger on the trigger.

Holly quickly darted behind another wall, confused.
"What are you doing?" she whispered in disbelief.

Shadow didn't lower the gun.
"Orders." She said quietly.

"You shouldn't take orders from anyone." Holly said, shaking, "Not you Shad..."
