A bad omen...

Shadow dropped her sword, her temper fraying. With a shout of a demonic spell, the black magic poured out of the palm of her hand, which was directed at a pair of Outlaws. She didn't care about losing control now, not while her friends were in danger. She aimed another stream of magic at the Outlaw behind Sither, her eyes narrowed with the concentration.

The dark magic killed the Outlaw behind Sither, whilst he was busy crushing two more outlaws in his powerful guillotines. The rest of the black magic killed the two other Kraferrs.
That's 10 down, Bart thought, counting the two I knocked out. Are there any more?
Bart looked around, and saw the rest of the Outlaws, fleeing. He turned to the two Kraferrs he knocked out. He dragged them to a dark alley, and threw them in the garbages, hoping the humans wouldn't notice two apes in the dumpsters.
He walked to Shadow and Sither, his wound causing him severe pain. The adrenalin must of reopened the hole, he thought. He cursed, and then turned to the direction where they shall go. Sither morphed back into his human form, his clothes ragged and shredded. Sither noticed that Bart was wounded, but he didn't pay attention, and thought that Bart could take care of himself, if he didn't talk about his pain.

Shadow knelt down to one knee, her arms folded over her chest. Her second heart was beating so fast, trying to keep up with the adrenaline. Her wound was bleeding, but after a few moments, she stood up, pain masked, and went to help Bart.

Bart noticed Shadow had something wrong with her wound. The cloth he had tied around it was nearly all black. The second heart, Bart thought, must be having a hard time to keep up like that. 'Shadow,' Bart said, looking at the ground, 'You need rest.'

"I'm fine," Shadow said through gritted teeth. She ripped a strip from the bottom of her cloak, wrapping it tightly around Bart's wound. She smiled slightly at him once she had finished, and fainted. Her secondary heart was beating so fast there was almost no distinction between the beats.

Bart cursed when he saw Shadow drop. He caught her before she met the ground, and heaved her on his arms. He put two fingers on Shadow's neck. The beat of the heart is going way too fast, Bart thought, It's impossible that it could be like that. Bart looked at the cloth, which was black, because of all the blood. He bit his lip. His light medicine techniques weren't very effective, and he couldn't use the few techniques he had for Kraferr bodies on Shadow, who has a demon body. But, Bart thought, I wonder...
Bart imagined a wound tightening, then smudging together with the skin. At the moment, black specks of magic shot out of Bart's fingers. He laid Shadow on the ground, hoping that this would work. He gently took off the cloth, lifting Shadow up to take it from under her back. It was soggy, and black. Bart laid two fingers on the approximate location of Shadow's wound, hoping that it would heal at least a little.

The wound stopped bleeding, and Shadow started to come round. She blinked a few times, and reached a hand up to her neck, and felt that her pulse was far too fast. She took a few deep breaths, calming her mind. The pulse started to slow down slightly. She looked up at Bart, and went slightly red when she realised that she was in his arms (lol).
"Thank you," She murmured.

Bart smiled at Shadow when she woke, but was kinda shocked when she immediately went into his arms. He didn't really know what to say. Sither turned around, sighing, and rolling his eyes. Bart felt a little embarassed. He looked at Shadow, and waited for her reaction.

Shadow stood up shakily, smiling back at Bart and holding out a hand to help him to his feet.

Bart took Shadow's hand, and pulled himself up. He gave a look to Shadow, and said, 'Let's just say that was reflex.' and Bart turned to Sither. Sither noticed, and then looked around, looking at heaps of dead bodies dripping in small lakes of dark blood. Bart gagged, and put a hand over his mouth, and shut his eyes quickly.

Shadow, used to the sight and smell of a battlefield, merely gazed over the bodies. To say she wasn't bothered by the deaths wasn't right, but she hid her emotions carefully again. As much as she hated to fight and kill, this was an exception. These outlaws had been out to kill them. Self defense, she tried to convince herself.
"Why are they after us?" Shadow asked Bart.

Bart utrned around to Shadow. 'Well...' Bart began, 'The Kraferr Outlaws was a group composed to protect the Ones to acheive their goal and catch the relic by force. The Outlaws are scared that the Ones ask a wrong question, leading to a One's death, thus leading to the Kraferr's exctinction. This idea of 'protection by force' slowly faded to the idea of 'kill',' Bart said, 'And that's why I don't really like being near Outlaw tribes, such as the Ku' Rutiek.'

"Ok, I see now," Shadow said, her eyes wandering over the corpses. "Looks like the Kraferrs are another couple of people short then..." She thought about the part-demons. They had been all over the place, in almost every dimension. Now only Shadow and her family remained. Now the Kraferrs seemed to be following the same path.

'Yes,' Bart agreed, glancing at the corpses, 'But we cannot do anything for them now. What's done is done.'
Sither grunted at that sentence, but Bart took no notice. Bart thought, there's something I forgot... Very important... He cursed in his mind. What is it?

Shadow nodded in agreement to Bart's statement, and frowned slightly when she sensed his emotions. He was trying to remember something, but she didn't know what.
"What's wrong?" She asked quietly.

'I feel like there was something I forgot,' Bart replied, 'But I can't remember what it is.'
Brainstorm, Bart thought, look everywhere, maybe it'll make you remember. Bart looked on the ground, but looked away at the sight of the corpses.
Bodies... Death? No.
Bart looked at the walls, tapping them slightly.
Hard... Hm... No.
Bart then looked at the sky, where he saw the moon. He saw the figure.
Her... WAIT.
Bart cursed out loud, then turned to Shadow, and yelled, 'Shadow! You need to hide!'

Shadow was confused.
"Why? Where?" She asked quickly.

'It's just that...' Bart glanced around, and checked the time. 11:00 PM, he saw. D*mn. 'I had a meeting at the outskirts of Grenoble with Vrael and Alba, and they might be coming any time soon! And since you don't want your family to know, well...'

Shadow cursed under her breath. She tried to think of a place to hide, but there was no where. Not where Vrael wouldn't be able to find her. Unless...

Shadow used her fingernail to pry out the gem in her forehead, dragging her sleeve across it's old place between her eyebrows to wipe away the small trickle of blood. Putting the jewel carefully in a pocket, she looked at Bart.
"Just tell Vrael that I went home, ok?" She said before morphing into a wolf. Normally there was a white patch of fur where her charka gem was, but as Shadow had removed it, th patch of white wasn't there either.

With a small whine, she touched her nose to her wound. It hurt... Despite being in wolf form, her secondary heart remained, still taking over the role for her primary heart. She looked up at Bart again, plumy tail wagging slightly.

Bart kneeled before the canine, and he put his hand on the wolf's cheek. He then stood up, still looking at Shadow, but then glaned left and right, to see if people weren't coming. A small breeze of frisky wind blew Bart's hair and clothing.

Shadow's fur ruffled in the breeze, and she turned her muzzle to sniff it. SHe could detect a faint scent on the breeze, the smell of mantiicore and vampire.

Bart noticed that Shadow had scented something. He turned to where the wind came from, because, logically, that's from where the scent came from. He stared in the direction. Sither shrugged, and stayed behind, thinking.

Shadow sniffed again, but the scent had gone. She whined quietly, turning round in a circle as she tried to catch the scent again.

Bart noticed that Shadow was turning around in circles. He thought that maybe the scent wasn't the right one. Bart glanced around, the bodies making him uneasy. He gagged again, as the putrid smell stung his smelling sense, and he put a hand over his mouth, and tried no to look, but the image came back into his mind. The demonic blood was playing tricks on him, he thought, he was hallucinating.
Bart fell to the ground, his knees making a loud thumping sound, and using his hand as a weight bearer. Bart's hair flowed in front of his eyes.

Shadow was almost immediately at Bart's side, nosing his shoulder in concern. She morphed back, turning back into her violet haired self, sitting crouched next to Bart.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
