A bad omen...

A being clothed with a cloak came out of an alley, and went into Sither's path, who automatically, kept his guard, and unsheathed his dagger. The being lifted one hand, and a rough, crude voice called out, 'No need to be offended, I am not of any threat.'
Yet, Sither thought.
'What and who are you?' Sither demanded.
'A Kraferr. Sad Eighth, at your service... Sither Moonspike.'
'How do you know my name?'
'Let's just say I've been following you for some time now. I know what you are planning Sither.'
'And you're going to try and stop me?'
'No. In fact, I want to help you.'
Sither had a smirk at the corner of his mouth. 'If you really do know what I'm going to do', he continued, 'Meet in the forest north. 12:00. Be there.'

Vrael raised an eyebrow, and carefully took aim with his bow, aiming for the Kraferr. He drew back the string, the wooden bow making a soft creaking noise as it did. He didn't know who this Kraferr was, and he wasn't an empath like his sister, but he could tell just by the looks on their faces that this was not an encounter that was going to end well.

Sither heard something behind his back. He quickly turned around, his eyes glinting. He noticed a man with silver hair, and eyes of the same taint. Vrael.
Sither pushed the Kraferr away, and threw his dagger at Vrael. He started morphing into his Praying Mantis form.

Vrael let loose the arrow, and quickly flipped out of the way. He knew that the arrow had missed by far, but he wasn't about to start worrying about losing one arrow. Shadow heard the commotion and got to her feet, drawing one sword as she ran towards the scuffle.

Sither quickly morphed into his Praying Mantis form. His head elongated, he grew another articulation for his arms, his bangs morphed into antannaes, and grew another pair of legs. With his reinforced armor, he would be more difficult to pierce, especially with arrows. The Kraferr jumped into Vrael's path, wielding a dagger.
Bart heard something, and woke up. He noticed the beginning of a fight. What the hell's going on? Bart stood up, and ran towards the battle.

Shadow shouted something in demonic to Vrael, who jumped up to a balcony, putting another arrow on his bow and aiming for the Kraferr Sither had been talking to. Shadow faced the Praying mantis, both her swords at the ready.
"Why are you here, really?" She snarled, her eyes narrowed and long canines on display.

Sither grunted, 'Why I'm here? You'll soon see why!' Sither slashed at Shadow with his guillotine arms, trying to cut her arms or legs.
The Kraferr faced Bart, who instantly put up his index to the Kraferr's forehead, and bart yelled, 'Quare es vos hic?'
The Kraferr scowled, and backed away, saying calmly, 'Can non vos memor mihi?'

Him, Bart thought, The cloaked Kraferr.

'Ego memor vos,' Bart said, 'Tamen quis vos vilis per 'oceans of cruor vadum effluo ut vos perago vestri quest'?'
The other Kraferr chuckled, and said, 'Vos mos nunc animadverto...' and backed away, disappearing into darkness.
Bart was confused. He learnt Latin well, he thought, and understood practically everything the other Kraferr said. Why didn't the Kraferr answer him? Gah.
Bart looked around, and saw that Shadow needed help. What was Sither doing? Why attack?
Bart ran to Shadow.

Shadow tried to deflect the most blows she could on her swords, but couldn't stop some of the attacks hitting her arms and legs. She kept her back to Bart, knowing that be was both a risk and at risk.
"Stay back." She growled to Bart, deflecting another blow.

Bart obeyed Shadow. It was true that he would be just another obstacle in her way. He backed away, and tried elaborating a plan to attack Sither.
Sither was slashing furiously at Shadow, aiming for the legs, now tht her arms were protected.

Vrael started to fire arrows in quick succession at Sither while Shadow danced out of the way of his attacks while trying to launch her own. One arrow managed to hit her leg, but fell out of the shallow wound.
"Watch where you're aiming!" Shadow yelled to her brother, but the lapse in concentration managed to allow Sither to hit her calf, severing half the muscle. She turned her full attention to the battle, her eyes starting to turn red.

Bart needed to react quickly. He jumped onto a wall, and heaved himself off it, to Sither's head, whilst he was attacking Shadow. He gripped tightly onto Sither's head, ripping at his eyes. He jumped off the body.
Sither shrieked. He lacerated thin air, trying to hit. Bart blocked one attack using both of his arms, but unfortunately,

A faint sound of metal breaking was heard, followed by a short thudding against the road. Bart looked at his arms. The bracelets. They weren't there. Oh Christ.
Bart looked at Shadow, who was wounded to her leg. He picked her up, even if she didn't want to, and put her gently on the ground, further away from Sither. Sither was still thrashing, his eyes bleeding. Bart looked at his fur. It was turning purple. He felt the pain- but he couldn't pay any attention to that. He had someone to heal. Bart looked at Shadow.

Shadow twisted herself round, glaring at Bart from her place on the ground. She ripped a strip from the bottom of her cloak, winding it tightly around the would to her calf. Her eyes were narrowed as she pulled herself to her feet, and she noticed the purple fur on Bart's arm.
"Stay back!" She said, meaning it as an order. "Your magic will be unpredictable!"

She grabbed her fallen swords, leaning most of her weight on her uninjured leg as she walked with a limp. She started to strike at Sither, aiming fir the weakest points in his armor.

Bart stepped back, his fur slowly becoming purple. His eyes gleamed bright red. A sharp pain was felt in his chest, and he stumbled to the ground, gasping. He laid a hand on his chest. His heart was beating extremely fast. His fur was now completely purple. It didn't go that fast before...
He looked at his hands. The claws were morphing into ivory blades. He twitched through out whole body. His tail stiffened. His canines grew, becoming long and thick. His eyes slowly morphed into two pairs. A loud crack was heard as bone spikes shot through his back. Bart yelled in pain, soon before going unconscious. As he fell to the ground, black magic gathered up in his hands.

Sither stopped flailing. He needed to concentrate. He jumped back, feeling danger near. He quickly turned into his human form, holding his face. It was bleeding. The blood came from his eyes. His antannaes morphed back into bangs, and the second pair of legs swiftly retracted into his body. He smirked.

Shadow was breathing heavily, both swords pointed at Sither. Her injured leg was trembling, but she paid no attention to it. Without taking her eyes off Sither, she yelled something to Vrael, who responded with one word and jumped down, running lightly over to Bart. The vampire-demon stood in front of Bart, his bow ready to fire.

Shadow glared at Sither.
"Why are you here?"

Sither cackled. He let his hand fall from his face. He opened his eyelids, showing two deep holes, staring at Shadow. Sither smirked, and spat at the ground. He threw his arm to Shadow, pointing at her, 'What would you care, anyways? You're still going to try and kill me just after I answer.'
Sither backed slowly. He disappeared behind a corner in the an open alley.

Bart, in his sleep, was breathing heavily. His heart thudded against his chest. His face, faces downwards against the road, was sweaty. A small trickle of black blood appeared from Bart's mouth. His tail thudded involuntarily against the rock-hard ground. His hands began to twitch, scratching slightly the pebbles off the road.

Shadow started ot run after Sither, but her leg gave way. She dragged herself back to Bart. She checked his pulse, and then gently turned him over into a more comfortable position.

As Shadow turned Bart over, his back spikes slightly retracted, and Bart's face tensed. The few blood droplets that were on the edge of his lip fell down on the ground.
Plick.
He breathed in heavily. His pulse was extremely fast. And the worst thing was, that he couldn't do anything to help it.

"Come on Bart," Shadow murmured. "Sither's gone now. There's no one here to threaten us."

Bart heard a voice. It was vague. Gentle. But blurred. he couldn't recognize from whom the voice came from. He opened his eyes, showing two glistening red eyes. He breathed in heavily. He let his arms fall down by his back. he opened two wide eyes. He had felt something. Hard, and humid. He turned his head back. Spikes? What the heck? He looked at Shadow questioningly (?).

Shadow bent over Bart.
"The bracelets broke. You've got your demon form now." She explained.

'So...' Bart continued, tiredly, 'This is my demonic form?'
Bart lifted one hand, and flexed his bony fingers. The ivory blades sliced at the air. He then put one hand on his chest. The heart was beating very fast, but there was another thing that was wrong. it was all... plated. Bart looked at the spikes in his back.
Wait a second, it's like...
It's like if my rib cage went at back, and my shoulder blades went up front! The heck?

"Yes," Shadow said. "your demonic form is temporary, whereas you can see with Vrael and myself, it is our normal form."
"Shadow, Sither has escaped." Vrael said. The vampire-demon had been jumping across the frooftops to try and follow the Mantis morph, but had lost sight.
"It doesn't matter, we'll find him soon enough."

Bart tried to answer the questions setting up into his mind.
What will happen if I stay like this? Is it really temporary? What if it isn't? What pros did I acheive, and what cons do I suffer from now?
Sither had escaped. They needed to find him. And who was that Kraferr anyways? Was it really the cloaked Kraferr from before?

Shadow sat next to Bart, legs crossed in a lotus position. She watched over him carefully, trying to think of what future he would have if he didn't manage to exterminate the demonic blood from his system, which seemed all the more likely.

Bart flicked out his watch. It was late. They needed to move, before more things happened. Bart lifted himself warily, not used to this new kind of body. He took a deep breath, and looked at Shadow. He made a movement sign with his head, saying that they should go, that it was already too late, if they didn't move now.
