Coping. (Post Prophecy)

Wraith started to whine quietly. She saw Bart as part of her pack now and she wanted to go help him, but Shadow had told her to stay hidden. After only a few moment's thought, she barreled through the door, leaping and landing opposite Dominique, hackles raised and baring her fangs, snarling. She understood everything that the two Kraferrs were saying.
What has happened to his pack? She wondered.

"Wraith!" Bart exclaimed, noticing the canine.
"...The dog," Dominique muttered sarcastically, glaring at Wraith.
Bart watched Wraith. She can understand what we say. This doesn't concern Wraith at all.
"Wraith, I'll have to ask you to go away. This is a conversation between Dominique and me."
"And you think that inferior being will understand our purposes?" Dominique asked.
"Wraith's not any normal canine, Dominique." Bart retorted, glaring at her.

Wraith growled at Dominique for her comment about inferior beings, and her fur ruffled even more, drifting slightly in the light breeze. The wolf was sorely tempted to bite the strange woman, but she was compelled to obey her pack's orders. She glanced at Bart, whining slightly, trying to tell him that she didn't want to leave.

"Wraith!" Bart yelled, knowing that Wraith would not like to move. But it's to protect her.
Dominique approached Bart, who turned immediately.
"We can continue this discussion with the dog," she said, looking at Bart, smiling slightly.
Bart mumbled something. He then turned up to Dominique.
"You said me. I didn't do anything to my family!"
"Oh, that's where your wrong, Bart," Dominique answered.
"Then what did I do?!"
"The replica."
Bart's eyes widened.
"What happened?"
"Isn't it obvious? The replica took your place in your family. You accepted to be a Kraferr One, suffer from the consequences, Bart." Dominique retorted.
What she's saying is true, Bart thought, the replica took my place. Do I even have a family any more, too?

Wraith, sensing Bart's emotions, turned her head to lick his hand slightly, trying to comfort him. She knew that the day was not going well at all, and it troubled her. First the business with Shadow, and now this strange woman telling him that some strange being has taken his place within his own pack. She turned her gaze to Dominique again, baring her fangs in a fierce snarl.

"Yes, Bart," Dominique continued, "You have no family. That is, until, the replica is gone."
"And that's in a few months." Bart answered. But I need to stay with Shadow. I need to stay a Kraferr One. I can't go back. I didn't think of this this way. Oh, no...
"Realize it, Bart:" Dominque replied, "You have no family, and I don't either. We are both the last Kraferrs on Earth."
Dominque approached Bart, taking the collar of his shirt, by a firm grip, approaching his head close to hers. She glared at him. "The Kraferrs were our only family. Don't you get it, Bart?!"
Bart's face darkened. He didn't know what to say.

Wraith started barking loudly, darting forwards and sinking her fangs into Dominique's leg. No way was she going to sit around while this sort of thing was going on. Wraith's barking alerted Shadow, and the demoness suddenly appeared on the rooftop. She commanded the wolf to heel, and the canine reluctantly obeyed.

Dominique gripped onto her leg, the blood spilling out of it. She glared at the canine. She took out one clawed hand, and darted at Wraith. She was stopped by Bart, who caught her arm. her tail flicked at the air. She turned to Bart, and growled at him. Bart tightened his grip on Dominique's arm, pulling it down. Dominique fell to the ground onto one knee.
"Quam praesumo vos?!" she barked at Bart.
"Ego operor quis ego reputo est volo futurus perfectus," Bart replied.
"Tunc quare operor vos non recipero thesis?!" she retorted.
"Ego vadum reputo super ut."
Dominique stopped growling, and tried to calm herself down. She looked at the ground, her red eyes glistening.

Shadow glared at the two Kraferrs, taking Wraith by the collar and leading her back down the stairs.
Any minute now... She thought to herself. The Guild had sent back another letter, and they hadn't given her another chance. Not this time.

Bart helped Dominique up. She faltered as the pain in her leg reminded her of the wound, and she fell slightly again, and Bart caught her, before she landed onto the cement. She shook Bart's grip off, and then used one leg to push herself up. She looked at Bart, her face emotionless. Bart glared back at her.
"So, I guess I've won," Dominique said, slightly smiling.
"You didn't win anything," Bart retorted, "You still haven't got my answer. And I could decline at any moment."
"Oh, you'll see," Dominique answer, leaning forwards slightly, putting her index on Bart's chin, "When I'm challenged, I make sure I win."

Shadow sat in her flat, gazing out of the window. She had a bad feeling about Dominique, but she couldn't act, not without putting both she and Bart in danger. She grabbed her pen, writing a quick letter in her normal calligraphic handwriting and tucking it into Wraith's collar after tying a length of string around the wolf's muzzle to stop her biting Dominique again and sent the wolf back up to the roof.

Bart,
Keep yourself safe, ok? I sent you away for a reason. Don't hang around here right now.

Shadow
PS, tell Dominique that Wraith doesn't bite without reason, so she's better watch herself.

Bart noticed the canine that had recently climbed onto the roof. He then caught a glimpse of what seemed to be a bit of paper, stuck into the collar of the canine. He approached Wraith, and took out the message. Dominique just watched, tapping with one foot, the pain in her leg gone. Bart read the letter, before closing his eyes. He took his index, and 'wrote' something back, on the back of the bit of paper. He hoped that Shadow would notice it and be able to decipher it.

Shadow,
I'll be gone soon enough, trust me.

Bart

He patted Wraith on her head, and stuck the message back into her collar. He sent Wraith back to Shadow. Bart then turned to Dominique.
"Oh, by the way, it seems that you deserved that wound," Bart said, calmly.
"Why you say that?" Dominique asked, glaring at him.
"Wraith doesn't bite without a reason."
Bart approached the rim of the building, letting his clothing sway gently in the wind for a while. He knew what Shadow said, and knew what he should do. But he needed to know what is happening.
No.
Bart jumped from the rooftop, landing onto another building. Dominique followed, her wound not bothering her.

Shadow watched as Wraith came padding back into the room, and frowned, taking the paper from her collar. After a few moment's deciphering, she scowled slightly. She knew better than to take the words seriously, as her version of 'soon' could be different from Bart's. All the could hope now was that both the Kraferrs were long gone by the time the milita got there.

Bart jumped further away from the flat, stopping and looking back every now and then. He had traveled several buildings by now. At least ten, he thought.
Dominique landed next to him. He glared at her, then turned his head. She looked up. "Why are we going away?"
Bart turned back to her.
"Does that concern you?"
"If I'm going to follow you all day, looks like a yes."
"Then don't follow me."
"But your choice-"
"YES, my choice? I haven't decided yet," Bart retorted, "And if you keep annoying me I guess I could say no in front of you right now. And that no would be the last answer I would give you."

Shadow stood up from her place waiting by the window as she heard helicopter blades heading towards the flat. She held her head high, looking in the direction of the door. These people had been after her and her family for so long, and now she was going to make sure that they never went after her family again. She glanced at Wraith, murmuring to her to hide herself. She prayed that Bart and Dominique were far away by now, far enough that the milita wouldn't find them.

Bart's eyes widened as he noticed the chopper slightly above Shadow's flat.
Whaddahell? What's happening?!?
Bart thought a moment.
"Looks like she got caught, hmm?" Dominique said, glaring at the helicopters slowly posing themselves onto the cemet.
"Shut up!" Bart retorted, looking at the flat, hoping he would know what to do. But nothing. He cursed under his breath. Shadow is searched by the whole world. I know that. But how did they find her? Did she call them or something?!? She said that I should stay away. This must be why! She knew that they were coming. That means I can't barge in like that. Actually, I couldn't barge in anyways. I would get killed.
Gah, d*mn it!

The helicopter landed on the roof, and Shadow tried to appear calm and collected. She knew that the Guild would spring her eventually. They weren't about to get rid of one of their own. Several people in black uniform, bulked up with body armour and wielding heavy guns, jumped out from the helicopter, some running down into the stairwell while some hooked ropes to the edge of the building, scaling down the surface. On the back of their uniforms was a symbol, not unlike the image given when you look through the scope on a sniper.

It's the freaking army. She'll get killed!
Bar took one step forwards, onto the rim of the building, and pushed off. In vain. Dominique held him back, and she heaved him back onto the building. Bart caught himself on his two feet. He yelled.
"Why did you do that?!"
Dominique glared at Bart.
"That paper on Wraith's collar, back there. I saw what was written on it," Dominique replied, "At first, I didn't understand. But now I do. She knew the milita were coming. We cannot interrupt her choice, Bart."
"But-"
Dominique slapped Bart, and his face turned sideways. He fell onto the ground, his hair flowing over his face. Dominique loomed over him. "Don't argue Bart. I know that, deep down, you think the same way. Always neutral in loyal fights, eh? If you came in right now, it wouldn't be a loyal fight."
Bart thought a bit. Yes.

Shadow didn't put up a fight against the milita as they stormed into the flat. Wraith was sitting quietly under a table covered with a cloth, staying out of sight and sound as Shadow had ordered her to. The wolf tembled, as she heard the threats of slow death from the milita unless she cooperated, and then loud thump as, she guessed, Shadow was thrown down.

With her hands tied and her eyes covered, Shadow didn't have much choice than to follow te milita quietly up to the roof. A metal band was wrapped around her upper arms, stopping her from moving her arms at all, and another, smaller, metal band tied her tail to her left leg. The demoness guessed that they had silver laid into them as she couldn't summong her magic.

Bart saw Shadow being taken out to the chopper. He glared at the miltia, then fell to the ground onto his knees. C'mon, do something. You know you can. But it contredicts my moral code. Don't care about my moral code, just do it. I can't. Graaah! He shoved his face into his hands, clenching his forehead with his clawed fingers, small trickles of blood srpouting from his forehead. Dominique crouched next to him, and put a hand onto his back.
"I just can't do anything. That's not like me." Bart muttered under his breath, desperate to find out a solution.
"If Shadow didn't do anything, it's that she has it all planned out, Bart," Dominique replied, trying to recomfort him.

As the helicopter took off, leaving, Wraith came running out of the doorway. She sniffed out Bart, and ran over, her tail, unstead of wagging lazily behind her as usual, was pinned down, showing her discomfort. There was another note tucked into her collar.

If you're reading this, good. It means you didn't try to follow. I'm going to explain the situation to you now.
The milita are a section of the military intelligence that deals with mythical creatures. They've been hunting me down for a long time. My status with the assassin Guild meant that they would never be able to track me. The Guild wouldn't let one of their own be captured. The letter from the Lord was threatening me with this if I didn't comply with his rules again.
I don't know when I'll get out of that place, nor if I will. Let's just say that if they don't understand it, it's locked up or killed.
DO NOT go anywhere near them in Kraferric form, understood?
Look after Wraith for me please.
Shadow

Bart, seeing the chopper fly away, jumped from rooftop to rooftop, and noticed Wraith. he then noticed a piece of paper, and he hurriedly took it out, almost scratching Wraith with his keen claws. He read it at high speed. He felt recomforted at the slightest amount. he sighed, then sat down near Wraith. She planned this out, eh? Nope, she didn't. This is going to complicate my life...
Bart watched the helicopter fly away. Dominique caught up with him, not breaking a sweat. She read the paper, also.
"So, looks like-" Dominique began.
"She didn't plan it out, Dominique," Bart interrupted. He put his face into his hands again. "She'll probably die now. I can't do anything against the milita without my Kraferr form. i'm just plain human without it."

Wraith sat down, and barked once. She sniffed around on the rooftop before scratching something out with her claws.
Family visit. Was soon written by faint white lines on the concrete, with Wraith sitting next to the words, tongue hanging out her mouth.

Bart opened his eyes, and noticed the words Wraith had written.
"Family visit?" he repeated. "I don't get that. I thought Shadow was banished from her family. They wouldn't visit her. Except if visit meant rescue, or something. And then again, they probably wouldn't do that, either."
Bart looked at Wraith.
"Or do you mean that they are here?"

Wraith seemed to roll her eyes. She scratched on the ground again.

Sneek in

Wraith walked up to Dominique, pointed at her with her snout and then to the words family visit and sum1 els. She then pointed out Bart in the same way, and pointed out sneek in. With this, the wolf sat down and prayed that they got the message.
