Coping. (Post Prophecy)

A canine that knows chatspeak. I've now heard of everything.
Bart looked at Wraith, still thinking.
Sum1 is the word someone, that's for sure. Els, is else. But what I don't get is wy Wraith pointed at Dominique, then pointed at 'family visit' and 'someone else'. And then, she pointed at me, and pointed at 'sneek in'.
"So, you're saying that Dominique should go to the milita, under excuse that she is there for a family visit, and whilst the guards are concentrating on something else, I sneak in?"

Wraith barked twice, her plumy tail thumping the ground hard. Yes, it was what she was trying to say, and she was glad that Bart had actually understood it, as she had never attempted to communicate with anyone other than Shadow, and that had been easy enough.

Good.
Bart stood up, his eyes glistening. "Dominique-" he began.
"Don't even think I'll accept helping her," Dominique interrupted.
"What?!" Bart yelled out, "You mean you're going to let her die there?!"
"No, not me," Dominique answered, "We. We're not going to help her."
"And why not?!"
"For the same reasons as you want me to deal with my life without a family. I don't want to help you. Without my help, that plan is useless." Dominique replied, glaring at Bart.
Bart gripped at Dominique's shirt collar. "Why you-" He heaved his fist backwards, but then stopped, his fist in mid-air.
"If you're going to kill me, Bart, do it now. If you do, you won't get any help, whatsoever."
Bart stood silent, his fist shaking in the air. His eyes glistened from rage, and he was breathing heavily.

Wraith started whining, turning in tight, desperate circles before looking pleadingly up at Dominique. She scratched at the floor with no distinct pattern, a sign of distress.

- Now I gotta go eat XP. Talk to you tomorrow... -

Bart lowered his hand and his head, letting his dark brown hair flow in front of his rage-glistening eyes. he let go of Dominique, who caught herself on her feet and stood up, crossing her arms.
"I've thought," Bart said.
"About what?" Dominique replied, ehr foot tapping gently on the floor.
"About the choice," Bart answered.
"Do you-" Dominique began.
"I accept," Bart answered, looking up at her, "But on one condition."
"Which is?" Dominique asked.
"Help. Me. Save. Shadow." Bart oredered, pointing at her.
Dominique thought a bit, putting her index up to her temple and scratching delicately. She then turned her head up to Bart, and nodded. "Fine."

Wraith barked joyfully, chasing her tail in circles before jumping towards Dominique, giving her a big, very sloppy, thank you lick on the face. She dropped back to the ground, tail wagging madly.

Dominique stared at Wraith, and wiped her cheek with her shirt. She patted Wraith with one clawed hand on the head. Bart looked at Dominique.
"That means we need to go now," Bart said, "Except if Wraith says the opposite, and we need to wait."

Wraith nodded at Bart before bounding off down the stairs, retunring a few moments later with a map in her mouth. It took her a couple of minutes to unfold it enough, but once she did, she put her paw next to a research lab a couple of kilometres outside of the city.

"Ah," Bart said, looking at the map, "Then we better get going."
Bart turned to Dominique, his tail flicking positively. Dominique nodded once, her eyes glistening from something Bart couldn't understand. She turned around, and headed for the door. Bart patted Wraith on the head, and grabbed the map. he folded it into a tight pack, then put it into his pocket, before following Dominique.

Wraith followed them down the stairs until they got to Shadow's flat, where Wraith sat down outside, looking almost like a guard dog.

Bart passed the door, then came back a while after. Bart looked at her. No need to question her motives. Bart then defolded the map again, and looked in the direction of the lab. He pointed in that direction. "Over there," he said, "That's where we need to go."
Bart folded the map again, his silver bracelets glinting. He put the map into his pocket, and looked back at Dominique. He then jumped to the rim of the building, and set his way to the lab. Dominique looked at Wraith one last time, before following Bart.

Wraith sighed, watching them go before pushing the door open and walking inside. She sat by a window, looking in the direction the two Kraferrs were taking, and hoping they'd be back soon and in one piece.

Dominique and Bart jumped from rooftop to rooftop, careful not to be seen by other consciousness. Bart spotted the lab in a distance, and saw the chopper. He sped up. Dominique followed him, also speeding up, trying to stay with him. She didn't want to let him go this fast.

The research lab looked like any normal two-storey lab, but hardly anyone knew about the underground levels that hid a miriad of mythical creatures being tested...

Dominique and Bart landed on the ground, behind the lab, defending their sight from the guards. Dminique nodded to Bart, who nodded back. Dominique slowly transformed back into human, and walked calmly to the guards. Bart looked around, waiting. He heard the conversation begin.
"Erm... Hello?" Dominique asked, looking up at the tall man in the entrance.
"Yes, what is it?" the man answered.
"Family visit." Dominique answered.
Bart hoped that all of this would go out as planned.

"Name?" The man asked, looking boredly at the coputer in front of him. The one security guard there was leaning against a wall, dozing off.

"Er..." Dominique began. The man doesn't know my name. He won't be able to recognize me. "Dominique," she answered. What was Shadow's last name again?!?
Dominique shivered slightly. Bart kept a close ear on the conversation. Oh Christ. Not good.

"Would that be Doctor Dominique?" The man asked, typing the name on his computer and looking at the list on his screen.

Wow, confusing a 14-year old girl for a doctor. Nice one, dude. Or wait. Is he talking about the person I want to meet? Oh well.
"Yes, exactly," Dominique answered, in a mumbled voice.
Now, Bart thought. He sneeked up the wall, finding an air ventilation. He punched through the heavy metal, and took out his fist. He then pulled out the metal plate, and slithered into the ventilation system. Now, this'll be fun. Where's Shadow?

The man behind the desk handed Dominique a card.
"You'll be looking for Doctor Myrad. He's down with the girl in the testing lab five floors down." He said before going back to his book, wondering where his glasses were.

"Five floors down," Dominique repeated, "Thank you." Dominique turned, and headed for something that looked like a lift. She found one, and pressed on the button, glancing at certain people who passed by her.
Bart slithered through the ventilation. I'm lucky this thing doesn't have an alarm. He heard a glimpse of what the man said to Dominique. Floors down. Five? Four? Dangit. I'll just take four.
Bart crawled, seeing a part that went downwards. Bingo. He clamped onto both sides, and started hopping down, hop by hop.

A doctor was waiting for Dominique on the floor -5, a second labcoat in hand for her. When she arrived, he nodded once, handing her the coat, brushing off the fact she looked a bit young.
"Doctor Dominique, I take it you're the one we called her on account of our latest arrival." He said.

"Erm..." Dominique began, "Yes, that's me." She didn't loo up at the doctor.
Bart crunched himself through the ventilation, tail curled up in a tight ball under his shirt. Jesus Christ, this thing's tight. He looked out the slits of the ventilation panel next to him. No sign of Dominique. Where is she? Is she on the minus fifth?

The doctor led Dominique through a series of corridors before stopping outside a heavy metal door. He took out a swipe card, putting it into a slot next to the door and then stepping through.
"These are the holding cells," He said, gesturing to the long row of glass fronted cells, some of them occupied with various mythical creatures.

"Hm," Dominique answered simply. Why do humans keep people and creatures in these? This is horrible! She walked silently, following the man.
Bart crawled through the ventilation, going downwards once more. He then hear a voice that he recognized. Dominique. She is on the minus fifth. Bart continued, without making a noise against the metal plating. His silent training had helped him alot.
