Coping. (Post Prophecy)

Bart entered just after Shadow did. He glanced at the imposing man, then bowed to one knee, and put his clenched fist over his kraferric heart, just as Shadow did. He breathed heavily but slowly. His tail laid itself gently on the ground, just as Bart wanted it to.

"Wolf," The man said.
"My Lord..." Shadow replied quietly.
"Stand." He ordered. The demoness did as she was told, the Lord standing up as well. He walked over to her, and backhanded her. Shadow fell back , but didn't retaliate.

Bart did not stand up, as he thought that the orders weren't meant for him. He jumped slightly as he heard the slap crack through the wind, and as Shadow thudded against the ground. His tail lifted itself, and coiled around his leg. He twitched, and closed his eyes shut and tight.

Shadow stood up again, raising her gaze to the Lord.
"You wanted me back, I came back." She said, her tone implying that she wasn't going to keep back her demonic side. "I know that you're always short of assassins."
"And him?" The Lord said, gesturing to Bart.
"My confident, who will be living with me in the city."
There was a short silence.
"Your missions will be sent. You may leave."

Bart kept looking at the ground. His tail tightened against his leg, and his claws silently scratched the ground. He breathed in deeply, and breathed out slowly. His eyes glistened. He waited for Shadow to do something, but he didn't move.

Shadow bowed once more before murmuring to Bart that they could leave. She started to back away, not daring to turn her back to the Lord.

Bart stood up, and nodded to Shadow. He turned around, and exited the room. His tail flicked silently at the air. He didn't stop walking, but he shortened his stride to wait for Shadow. His eyes glistened in the shadows.

Shadow waited until they were out of sight of the Lord before putting a hand to her face. Her cheek and temple were bright red from the hit.

Bart looked up at Shadow, eyes glistening. "Are you all right?" he asked, but he already knew the answer. He looked forwards, hands in pockets, continuing his pace. His tail nervously flicked backwards.

Shadow's tail was pressed against her leg as Shadow took a deep breath.
"I'm fine," She said, gritting her teeth. "That's probably one of the lesser things I went through here."

"Mfft," Bart muttered under his breath, turning his head in the opposite direction. He played with the necklace in his pocket. His bright red eyes glistened. As he walked, his feet made slight thumps against the ground, but the sound soon vanished into the dark atmosphere.

Shadow stopped, grabbing Bart's arm and teleporting. She had seen someone coming down the corridor, and it happened to be someone that she really really didn't want to see.
They reappeared on the roof of the block of flats Shadow, and now Bart, lived in.

Bart blinked twice after the teleportation. Teleporting for the first time was kinda weird. It made you feel disoriented. But then again, Bart was always like that. Bart shook his head, and looked at Shadow. "Why did we teleport back?" he asked, his red eyes glistening.

"Someone I really didn't want to see." Shadow explained vaguely, bending down to scratch Wraith's ears. The wolf had been sitting on the roof, waiting for the pair to return.

"Mmh," Bart answered, looking at Wraith. He smiled, and transformed back into a human state. The fur slithered into his skin, and the tail rapidly disappeared. He smiled at Shadow. He took out the necklace, and coiled it around his arm.

Shadow sighed, standing up again.
"There's probably a messenger pigeon waiting for me downstairs."

Bart blinked. I thought all messenger pigeons were dead...
Bart walked downstairs next to Shadow, until he met the entrance door to Shadow's flat. The necklace coiled around his arm glistened, and he noticed he still had the silver bracelets. He untied them, and put them in his pockets.

Shadow opened the door with her keys, walking in. She took a spare set of keys off the shelf next to the door, throwing them to Bart.
"If you're going to live here, might as well have your own keys," She said before going into the living room. She walked into the living room, and sure enough, there was a dark grey pigeon sitting on the back of the sofa.

Bart caught the keys with one hand. He noticed an attacher to it. He looked down at his shorts, and attached the keys to a Belt lace, and he put the keys into his pocket to stop them from dangling everywhere. He followed Shadow into the room, and noticed a bird, perched onto the ouch. So they still do exist...

"Sorry, it's the only way that the Guild communicate. Carrier pigeon." Shadow explained, trying to catch the pigeon. After five minutes of vaulting over the furniture, backflipping off walls and so on, she imprisonned the pigeon in an orb of magic and pulled the message tied to its foot off.

Bart watched Shadow jump and turn, trying to catch the sane volatile. He closed his eyes, and brought his palm up to his face. He sighed deeply, then Shadow caught the freakish bird. He lifted one eyebrow, and stepped up closer, curious about the present message.

Shadow released the bird, allowing Wraith to chase after it quite happily. She opened the small package to show a picture of a politician along with directions to get to where he would be as well as how to kill him. Shadow sighed.
"They must have a backlist..."

Bart read the letter, than looked at the photo. "Is that Mr. Sarkozy I see right there?" Bart said, with a slight laugh. Bart then looked at the photo, and back at the message. "Oh, him," Bart said, a slight frown on his face.

"Yup, shouldn't be too hard. Polititians believe that they're invincible. As far as assassinations go, they're the most fun." Shadow said, shaking her head. "The worst are drug dealers."

Bart raised his eyebrows at those words. "I guess so," he replied, turning around, and looking at Wraith. He looked at Wraith for a long time, remembering the old Shadow in her wolf transformation. His face darkened, but he stopped thinking of that.
