Revenge

The girl looked up at Nightmare, with a smile on her face. The smile soon turned slightly upside-down. She looked at the ground. "Erm..." The girl said, "Do you still remember... What happened?" the girl asked, hoping that Nightmare would understand.

Nightmare sighed, knowing that the question would have come sooner or later.
"Yes, I remember clearly." She murmured, trying to pull her thoughts out of the painful memories. She felt rage start to fill her, but squashed it quickly.

The girl put her hands together, and twirled her thumbs together. She looked up at Nightmare with a sad expression. "What..." she began, blinking, "What happened?" she asked, finally, after waiting a few moments. She tried to make the question not too harsh, and she was timid by nature.

"I was killed, slowly, by people who took it as their mission to kill anything humanoid, but isn't human." Nightmare said quietly. Even now that she was dead, she could still feel the poisons running through her system.

The girl looked dodwn, seemingly sad that she asked the question in the first place, btu also saddened by the answer as well. "Sorry," she muttured, "All my condolences." The girl continued looking down, her bluish hair just falling in front of her gentle face.

Nightmare knelt down, putting one hand lightly on the girl's shoulder, the other gently lifting the girl's chin to look into the dead Angel's eyes.
"Death is behind us, we have to accept that. No one can hurt us now. Dying is just a distant memory."

The girl looked back at Nightmare in the eyes. The sentence that Nightmare spoke changed the girl's mood into a more indifferent emotion. The girl nodded once. "Yes..." The girl began, "But being reminded that you are dead everyday, because no one is able to talk to you is rather depressing." The girl looked backl at Nightmare. "I mean, there's nobody out there, able to see us, communicate with us, except the dead!"

Nightmare decided that Alex probably didn't need any more dead following him around after the way his classmates had behaved, so she kept her mouth shut on that account.
"There are people to talk to. The wind, for example, whispers to us in the night, calling us to fly..."

The girl looked up at Nightmare. "How poetic," the girl said, "But I don't think one is going to have a conversation such as this one with the wind," the girl explained, "The wind is not living. Only directed, like a slave to the Lord." The girl looked down.

Nightmare sighed silently.
"One day, you will find someone who can see you." She said quietly.

"I don't have hope for that," the girl answered, looking down, "The Lord chooses destiny for the Living. Destiny ends at death. I have no more destiny." The girl looked down. "If you say that I can find someone who can see me..." she began, "You mean you know somebody who can see you? A Living?"

Nightmare nodded.
"I know someone, once, who could see me as a one of the Living," She said quietly. She remembered how, just after she had died, one of the other Angels, one of her greatest friends, had been able to see her for a brief few days before Nightmare became just another one of the dead.

"That must feel wonderful," The girl answered. The bell rang at that moment. A little minutes later, Alex trotted out of the school, looking around, in a group of other kids. He then spotted Nightmare and the girl, but couldn't go with them, as if the other students saw him run one way where there was nothing, it would seem kinda weird. He did a small but noticeable wave, then went out by the gate, along with Quentin and Fabrice.

"It did..." Nightmare murmured, more to herself. She tore her gaze away from the girl's, looking at the ground for a few moments before looking at her once more.
"Just wait, and it will come to you."

"Mmh," The girl answered, looking at the ground.
Alex and the others of his group stayed in front of the school a while, chatting. They were talking about the last test they had.
"I didn't get the second question," Quentin complained. Fabrice pushed out a lock of her hair out of her sight. "That one was easy. The fifth was harder."
I'm going to tell her today, Alex thought.
"Fabrice, you're the brainy one of the class. How could you say that the fifth was harder? It was as easy as teasing Alex from behind his back." Fabrice playfully punched Quentin on the shoulder.
Okay, I'm gonna say it to her now.
"Eh, Alex?" Fabrice asked.
"Fabrice..." Alex muttered, looking up at her. She looked at him weirdly, and Quentin looked at him. "Err... Did we have any homework for tomorrow?" Fabrice shook her head. "Good," Alex answered.
D*mn. Missed the occasion.

Nightmare giggled slightly, listening to Alex's attempt. She shook her head before glancing back at the girl.
"I'll be back, just going to tease some poor mortal." She said with a smile.

The girl smiled back, but waved at her. "When you come back, I shall not be there. I must get back to my grandparents." The girl looked up at Nightmare with big eyes. "I hope to see each other once again," she said, turning away, fading.
Alex sighed, as Quentin and Fabrice went away, as they took the same bus to go home. He rolled his eyes. Tomorrow, I swear to myself, I'm going to say it.

Nightmare bade goodbye to the ghost girl, turning back to Alex. She walked over, smiling slightly.
"You're not good with girls, are you?" She asked, trying hard not to laugh.

Alex looked around, to see if there was anybody around. There wasn't. Everybody hated the school, so they tried to get out of the place as fast as possible. He looked up at Nightmare. "Nah, never been," he said, smiling slightly, "But... One day, I know it, I'll say it. I'm determined to, but I'm just..." he paused there, then lowered his head in disappointment, "Timid."

"Hm..." Nightmare said, seemingly plotting. "I think I know how to help you there..." In her mind, she was already forming several plans to help the teenage boy with his girl troubles.

Alex looked up at Nightmare. He lifted one eyebrow. "Help?" he repeated, "I hope you're not thinking of offensive helping. What I saw back at the class leads me to that thought," Alex explained, "But, if it's otherwise, I guess I could use some help. I just can't... Get to her, really."

Nightmare snorted.
"No, I don't plan to go on the offensive." The dead angel assured Alex. "I'm just going to give you a few more oppertunities..."

"Oppertunities?" alex repeated, looking up at the fallen angel. He thought that Nightmare would do some freaky stuff to get her attention, but Alex didn't really like that, because whenever he did something, he always caught attention as the total freak of the area. He wanted to reassure himself.
"In what way?" he demanded.

Nightmare smiled sweetly at the human boy.
"You'll see in time." She said, obviously plotting in her mind.

Alex lifted one eyebrow uneasily. He didn't like it when people talked to him in that manner, and, above all, he hated stress, and this was causing it. He then shook the ideas out of his head, concentrating on the present, only going to concentrate 'in time'. He began walking down the path he took everyday to get back to his house. Without looking back, because there were people around, he asked, "Are you going to follow me around like that? Because, if so, you'll get to meet some new friends."
