The Secret

Shadow landed in a neat backflip, and glared at Holly.
"GO!" She ordered.

"And you say I'M immature." Holly commented, folding her arms, "You're gonna die if you stay here, we're not going unless you come with us."

"I don't have a choice." Shadow spat.

"Yes you do, look we're not idiots. I'm sure a demon and vampire and a witch can keep you safe!"
Holly nodded earnestly.

"I can't." Shadow said.

"You can ... Look who's your director/Master/Boss person? I'll talk to him." Holly said.

"No." Shadow said simply.

"Well then we're both screwed." Holly said, sitting down stubbornly, "Cause I ain't leavin' without you."

Shadow rolled her eyes and turned her back on Holly.
"You have to leave." She ordered again.

"Ah ha." Holly said, not really listening. She pulled out her ipod and blocked Shadow out.

Shadow cringed as she heard footsteps in the passage, and three figures stood just outside the cell.

Unaware of this, Holly leant against the wall, watching Shadow.
"Why the cringe?" she said, pressing pause on the ipod.

"Look behind you." Shadow murmered.
"Wolf." Said a menacing voice.

Holly tuned, and stood up quickly, moving in front of Shadow in the process.
"Is that him?" Holly whispered.

"No." Shadow said emotionlessly, pushig Holly out of the way. She knew what was coming, and was prepared for it.

"Don't kill me!" Holly shouted out suddenly.
A good way to keep her dignity.
I think not.

"You do not interest us." The man said boredly, and trned his attention to Shadow. "You know what happens now Wolf."
Shadow bowed her head and turned her back. The man drew a sword, and swung it in a neat arc. It sliced into Shadow's back, leaving a splatter of her blood on the floor. The demoness hadn't reacted to this, apart from a grimace of pain. She knew that the worst was still to come.

Holly was relieved for a moment at the man's words, but gasped inwardly a second later.
At the sight of the blood she almost threw up, but clamped a hand over her mouth. Other than that, she was frozen.

Shadow turned round again, and faced the man. He glared meaningfully, and Shadow bowed her head again, walking out of the cell. The two assassins that had flanked him before stayed next to the cell, keeping an eye on Holly and Natalie.

"Wayhey!" Holly called, suddenly unfreezing, "Where's she goin? Lemme go please."

The two assassins looked at Holly with blank expressions.

Holly waved a hand in front of their faces.
"Are you like those people at Buckingham Palace who don't move?" she asked, "Cause TRUST me, I will talk you away."
She nodded.
"Seriously."

"Then we will kill you." One assassin said calmly.

Shadow stood in a circular room with her hands bound in front of her and two more assassins flanking her. In front of her was a man with black hair, liberally streaked with grey. The Assassin Lord.
"Wolf, you have disobeyed us."
Shadow bowed her head.
"You were told to kill, but you didn't, and wonrse, the target SAW you. The normal punishment for this is death, but you are under our protection..."

"Good luck with tha'." Holly said rolling her eyes, "Just tell me, why did 'Wolf' have to kill ME anyway? What did I do?"

"Because you are connected." The assassin replied.
