Coping. (Post Prophecy)

Bart closed the door quickly. A loud slam resonated in the whole flat, then a few footsteps were heard outside the door, then, nothing. Dominique got up, smiling. Oh, he'll get over it. Anyways, a kiss doesn't change anything, does it? She walked to the door, and opened it slowly, without a sound. She looked through the tight entrance, seeing nothing, then she opened it fully, careful not to make a sound. She glanced around the flat, not seeing Bart. She tip-toed to the living room, and most of the other rooms, and he wasn't there. The only rooms she hadn't checked was the twins' room. And it was shut tightly. Maybe a kiss does do something... No it doesn't. He knew very well about that sort of thing between him and me, and he accepted the agreement. I need to talk about it to him. She walked to the room, putting one hand, to her surprise, shaking, on the doorknob. No sound came from the other side of the door. She turned the doorknob, a small creak piercing the precedent silence, and then she pushed the door. She saw Bart, lying back on the bed, staring at the ceiling. He didn't move, as Dominique approached him. Dominique was surprised about that. She sat next to Bart, and she looked down at him. His stare didn't change. She put a docile hand on his forehead, but it was gently pushed off by one of Bart's hands. His look changed direction, now looking at Dominique in the eyes. She smiled.
"I know that you are mad at me," she said, half-smiling.
"Oh, no," Bart answered, closing his eyes, then looking up at her again, "I'm not angry at you."
"Then..." Dominique began. She was interrupted by Bart.
"I knew that would happen sooner or later. I mean, the agreement and all, that we had..." Bart answered calmly.
"Oh, so you remembered it," Dominique replied.
"I don't forget that sort of thing," Bart answered quickly, "I just remembered that the Kraferric laws aren't the same as human laws."
"Huh?" Dominique said, "Oh yeah, that."
"One Kraferr can mate another Kraferr of the same family," Bart answered, now looking up at the ceiling again, "That's why I cannot contradict against this agreement. And you helped me alot, anyways.

Kia walked into the Lord's chambers, needing to report the success of a mission, but on the sight of what was happening, she ran. She didn't want to stay in the same place. The fourteen-year-old assassin ran from the Guild, out into the city. She jumped over roofs, running along the tiles until the came to the block of flats Shadow had formerly lived in.
Seeing the rope she had left there barely three hours before still attatched to the roof, she grabbed it, scaling down rapidly.

"But then why did you say to not do it again?" Dominique asked, a small smile creeping along her face.
"Because I was slightly shocked. You just did it so fast, and it seemed as you meant it," Bart answered rapidly, but calmly, still looking at the wall. Dominique turned her head, so that Bart wouldn't see her blush. After she had concentrated for a while, she then turned her head to Bart, to look down at him.
"So, about the agreement..." Dominique began.
"Mmh?" Bart muttered, turning his head to look up at Dominique.
"Well, do you think we should still do it? I mean..." Dominique said, hesitating.
"Well," Bart began, "To be honest, you could just say 'no, I shall not continue the agreement we made a little while ago', and I wouldn't care. You just do as you wish, and I continue my life with what you decide."

Kia opened the window, listening out for any possible signs of life. Hearing voices coming from one room, she headed that way. The assasin girl moved with barely a sound, something that she had the habit of doing, and quietly opened the door, looking inside.

Bart quickly sat up as he saw Kia enter the room, and Dominique, sensing Bart's alert, did as well, standing up. Bart recognized the girl, and then stood up as well.
"Fawn," he began, "What are you doing here?" He hoped that Kia hadn't seen the recent event between him and Dominique, but Dominique didn't seem to be worried about such.

Kia looked at her feet, still feeling like she was in the presence of a superior. She refused to look up at the two Kraferrs, stumbling over her words as she spoke.
"I apologise if I came at an awkward time, but I couldn't stay in the Guild when I saw the Lord and Wolf together..."

"No, don't apologise," Bart answered, "You came at a decent moment." He glanced at >Dominique, who rolled her eyes. Bart looked back at Dominique, shifting off of the bed, to stand up correctly. He brushed off his shirt, and then addressed himself to Kia. He was worried about Shadow.
"If I may ask, what is happening with the two?"

As Bart stood up, Kia practically fell to one knee in her haste to bow, one hand over her heart as Shadow had told her once as being a sign of respect. She stumbled over her words, seemingly unable to form any.

Bart felt slightly embarassed as Kia bent down and heeled. Dominique also stared wide-eyed. Bart then crouched down, and forced Kia to stand up. "Whoa, I'm not the Lord here, and you're not my animal. So, I repeat, would you like to tell us what is happening between the two, hoping it shouldn't be too bad?" Bart asked once again.

Kia looked uneasy as she found herself standing before the Kraferrs, unsure of how to act now.
"All I heard was Wolf yelling out and the sound of breaking bones..." She said still stumbling over her words.

"Oh Christ," Bart said, taken aback. He put his hand up to his chin. "That makes me very uncomfortable..."
Bart took a bracelet out of his pocket. The bracelet that Shadow had given him, before going to the Lord. He held it out to Kia. "Do you know what this is? Wolf said that this might be useful to get to the Lord."

Kia took the bracelet, turning it over in her hand.
"It's an identity bracelet, sir," She said, handing it back. "You wear it upon entering the Guild."

Bart felt superior when he heard himself getting called 'sir', but he quickly dropped that sensation, and glared at Dominique while she giggled at that. He looked back at Kia. "Don't call me 'sir,' please," he whispered, glancing back. He then stood up straight, taking the bracelet. "An identity bracelet..." he repeated. I'll need to use this to get inside. He lifted his head to Fawn, and then to dominique. "We need to move, now."

Kia looked slightly confused, then alarmed before moving onto suspicious.
"Move where, s..." Kia refrained from calling the Kraferr 'sir'.

He turned his stare to Kia. "Fawn," he began, pausin for a slight moment after the word, "I suspect that Shadow's in grave danger. I also suspect, all except your respect, that even if Shadow managed to negociate with the Lord, he would not call back his assassins, to try and teach a lesson to Wolf for so-called 'treachery'."

Kia bit her lip.
"The punishment for what she's done is severe. Very severe." The assassin girl murmured. "Normally, we shouldn't be interfereing, but I still owe her a favour..."

"Normally, you shouldn't be interfering," Bart corrected, "We can do as we want. He doesn't know me, and he has only seen me once. As a matter of fact, I actually regret that, but I was worried for Shadow, and I still am, to be honest."
Bart took the bracelet, and put it on his forearm. He then took out the two other silver bracelets, and put them on. He looked up at Kia. "Let's go."
Bart pushed the door, and Dominique followed him quietly.

Kia offered a silent prayer to the goddess of the assassins before scurrying after the Kraferr, hoping that he had thought up at least a vague outline of a plan.

Bart and Dominique appeared with Kia on the rooftop of the flat, the wind brushing through their hair. Bart looked at the gloomy sky, and felt a little gloomy himself. He then looked out in the horizon the path they were going to take. He took a while to do this, because he needed to remember where Shadow and he had gone to go to the Guild. He nodded to Fawn, then strated transforming into a Kraferr.
Fur appeared on his forearms, and his eyes went blood red. Claws sprouted from his fingertips, and a tail sithered out of it's hiding place, slashing in the wind. His fangs grew, and he felt a normal sharp pain in his chest, as the heart moved. But there was something that wasn't normal. He looked at his hands, which started to tense, and then his tail straightened. The pain in his chest grew, not stopping, and propaged. Sh*t! He exclaimed in his mind. He tightened the silver bracelets, but nothing did. He tried to calm himself down. The demon's possessing me again! He fell to the ground, and instinctively reverted back to human form, under Dominique's scared look.
"Damn!" he exclaimed, slamming his fist on the floor.

Kia jumped on Bart's back as she recognised the symptoms of demonic possession, twisting his arm up behind his back. The assassin remembered Shadow telling her how and when to do this just before they had started to work together on several large missions.

Bart slammed his fist multiple times on the rooftop, each time cursing a different word, even in kraferric language. Dominique scuttled quickly to Fawn to help her, where she grabbed Bart's neck, and slammed it down, taking all of his breath out. She kept a stable pressure on the neck, while Bart reverted back to kraferric shape instintively, multiple demonic symptoms appearing then disappearing one after the other.

Kia was completely confused and terrified by the situation she was faced with:
1. She had just floored what she still considered to be someone of a higher ranking.
2. Bart wasn't acting like anything Shadow had ever done or described.
3. She didn't know what to do.

Dominique relaxed on Bart's neck as she saw that he was beginning to suffocate, but that the demonic symptoms were calming down. She nudged Kia off of Bart, while he put an arm under him to put his weight on. He was breathin heavily, each time gasping for air. He looked tiredly up at Dominique.
"I can't go," he muttered, "You'll have to go, and get her. Fawn will accompany you, Dominique."
"But," she began, "You know Shadow more than I do! how will I ever be able to do something?"
Bart frowned. "Shadow acts as if you were part of her family, as she does with me. There should'nt be anything that should go wrong. And, anyways, there's always Fawn, as I just explained," he answered.
"And what will you do?" Dominique asked. Bart'd gaze set on the ground below him.
"I'll have to stay here, until the inside wounds cure," Bart muttered. Dominique nodded, and put an arm under him, to heave him up on his feet. He turned around, and then went back to the flat. "I'm sorry," he said quietly to himself, as he opened the flat door.
Dominique stood there for a while, blinking. She then turned to Kia. She nodded, and then she jumped off the building rooftop, landing on another.
Bart opened the door to the twins' room, and fell onto the bed. A quick pain in his chest was felt, and he squinted. He cursed at himself in kraferric language.

Kia looked worried about leaving Bart, but then she remembered Shadow's strangely intelligent pet wolf and concluded that the Kraferr/demon would be ok. She leapt after Dominique with the silence and grace she had been using since she could walk.

Wraith had quietly followed Bart into the twins' old room and lay down, sphinx-like, in a corner. She kept her liquid black eyes trained on the Kraferr, on alert for any possible hostilities.

Dominique arrived at the Guild, where she stopped, along with Kia. She made sure the bracelet Shadow had given Bart, who gave it to her was on her forearm. She looked at Kia.
"Fawn," she began, "Lead the way."

Bart shifted on the bed, turning to see Wraith. He couldn't help but to feel sad as he saw the canine. He tried containing the rage of himself not able to do anything, and the sorrow of the same one thing.
"I'm sorry..." He muttered quietly to himself.
