Coping. (Post Prophecy)

Shadow snarled slightly as the collar took its effect. Instead of the smooth morphing that normally took place when she changed form, the collar made the effect unnatural. Bones snapped to rearrange themselves, fur pushed its way out of her skin, her face lengthened and her hands retracted into paws. It only took a few moments for the transformation to complete itself, leaving a panting wolf on the ground. Shadow pushed herself up onto her paws, swaying slightly but soon regaining her balance. The silver bands were still in place, and the fur around them was matted with blood.

Bart was slightly shocked as Shadow transformed quickly. Is that what the collar does? It seemed to... Well, unwanted. Bart then nodded to Dominique, who had been looking, and she went out of the room, followed by Bart, who closed the door after. He went to the elevator, and before Bart could press on the button, a man dressed in white adressed to them. "Why are you taking that animal?" he asked, one hand up in the air. Bart didn't like the word animal. "It's classified, he retorted, remembering what Shadow had told him. The elevator dinged once, and opened. Two men came out. They both wore white, and one was taller than the other. They walked quickly to another cell, entering. Bart looked at them, then entered with Shadow, followed by Dominique.

Shadow kept her head down, acting as she had done before. Her tail was down, curled slightly around her leg. She trotted behind Bart, and sat behind him when he stopped.

As the elevator went up, Bart crouched aside of Shadow. He put a hand on the canine's cheek, and looked at her. "I hope your all right," Bart said, quietly, to Shadow, "Because, it's probably going to get chaotic when we'll be rushing for the entrance, except if you have another idea to get out of here quietly."

Shadow looked Bart in the eye, trying to gain access to his mind. She only managed to enter a tiny fraction, and her voice sounded distant, like an echoing whisper.
Setting a trap.

Setting a trap? Bart thought. How could they set a trap?
"Setting a trap?" Bart repeated, to Shadow, "How can we do that?"
Bart was thinking, trying to find out if what he had heard was correct. Setting a trap. With two Kraferrs, and one wounded demon. Yeeeaahhh, right.

Trap for others, Shadow thought to Bart before the connection vanished, her tired mind unable to keep it up. She lay down, like a sphinx, putting her heda on her paws.

"Trap for others?" Bart repeated, "I have to admit, that I don't get anything that you are thinking about."
Bart noticed that Shadows was tired. He didn't blame her. Bart then thought a bit. He crouched next to Shadow again, and took off the collar, waiting for the reverse effects.

The wolf whimpered as the reverse morph took place. Bones snapped and rearranged themselves once more, fur retreated and her paws lengthened into hands, leaving the half demon shaking and panting on the ground once the transformation had completed itself once more.

Bart put a hand on Shadow's forehead. Transforming that quickly wasn't good for her. The temperature was hot. Bart tried to shake a little sense into her, as he saw that they were acheiving the entrance level. "Shadow, please tell me what you mean!"

Shadow had her eyes squeezed shut, still shaking from the forced morphs.
"You tell... them that... you're setting a trap... for the rest... of the clan..." She managed to say.

Bart didn't answer, but he understood this time. He put a hand on Shadow's forehead, feeling the temperature. "All right," Bart answered, "You think you can take another forced morph?" His eyes were stuck on the number, slowly advancing to the number 0.
-2... -1...

"I have to..." Shadow murmured haltingly. "Suspicious... otherwise..." Mentally, she tried to brace herself for the transformation.

"Right," Bart answered, picking up the collar again. He detached it, and looked up at Shadow. He gulped once, then attached it around her neck. He stood up, taking the lead, as the elevator slowly stopped. Dominique prepared herself.

Shadow's transformation took the same form of snapping and elongating bones with fur pushing its way out of her skin. She trembled as she pushed herself back up on her paws, readying herself.

Bart stood up, looking at Shadow. The door opened, and he quickly turned around. Dominique came out, and waited for Bart to come out after her. She nodded once, and headed for the entrance, followed closely by Bart. One of the men of the entrance called out for them. "Hey! What do you think you're doing?"
Bart came up to the man. "We're setting up a trap for the other demon clans. It's better having multiple experiments, no?" Bart retorted, angered slightly.
"Yes, but-" the man replied.
"Base orders," Dominique answered.

Shadow continued to trail after them, trotting along behind Bart. She didn't look up, her gaze fixed on the floor. The silver bands around her legs made the repeated impacts painful, and her stride echoed this.

Bart continued outside, the darkness of the night surrounding him. He turned back to the lab, then continued his stride. Dominique didn't look back. Bart jumped slightly, when he heard a cry from behind him.
"Hey! There are two unconscious guys over here!" a man yelled. Bart widened his eyes. Sh*t.

Shadow gathered up the last of her energy, bounding off towards the exit, trying to show Bart and Dominique that they had to leave NOW.

Bart quickly transformed to Kraferr, as he heard the alarm going again. The same wail filled the lab. Bart's eyes turned red. Dominique did the same. Bart took the gun out of his back, and fired behind him, as he ran towards the exit, grabbing Shadow's canine body in one arm, holding the gun with the other. Dominique followed him quickly, shooting backwards, at the guards that poured out of the exits. One threw a smoke grenade, and Dominique shot it in mid-air, making gas flow all over the room. Dominique stopped shooting, not knowing where the guards were.

Shadow yelped as she felt herself being grabbed by Bart, but she had no energy to struggle. She glanced behind, hoping that Dominique would have the sense to just run.

Bart stopped firing, and jumped out into the night. The wind drifted by his hair, as he tightened his grip on Shadow. Dominique jumped after him, disappearing in the shadows. The guards poured out the exit, and started shooting randomly at them. Bart felt a bullet lodge itself into his leg, and he clenched his teeth, but kept on jumping, using one leg more than the other.

Shadow's mind was paniked. She didn't know what she could do. Knowing that Bart was now injured, she took a deep breath and, using the very last scraps of energy, launched a full scale mental attack at the guards, hoping to take them down for long enough for the three of them to escape.

The guards groaned, and fell to the ground, but some resisted, and continued firing. Bart got p*ssed, and he threw the gun at the guards. He took off his silver bracelets by pulling on them with his liberated hand, and sent sparks flying at the gun, making it explode in front of the guards. Bart then turned around, and jumped on his leg, heading for the city. Dominique stopped firing backwards, and continued, following Bart. Bart looked at his arms, seeing the purple fur swarm over his arm. He quickly put back his silver bracelets, and then the fur stopped turning purple. He felt a peak of pain in his chest, as he coughed up blood. Gah! I shouldn't do a magical revertion like that!

Shadow had fallen into an unconscious state, the mental attack having taken up all her energy reserves. She became a dead weight, head lolling toone side.
