Coping. (Post Prophecy)

Dominique opened her arms slightly, to slide up to Bart's height, and hugged him back tightly, putting her head on his shoulder. He blinked multiple times, his hands raised over Dominique's arms. He looked down at her, lifting one eyebrow, but she didn't look back. He sighed, and looked out the window.

Shadow sighed silently, clearing several thoughts from her mind. Wraith padded into the room, sitting down next to Shadow. The demoness looked down at the wolf, and placed a hand gently on her head, both their tails lazily wagging in syncronisation.

Bart didn't feel cold anymore, thanks to Dominique's heat. She pressed her body tightly against his, and he felt slightly uncomfortable, but accepted it anyways. He looked at the lights in the city, blinking, glittering, shining excessively.

Both Shadow and Wraith watched out of the window silently, not paying attention to the two Kraferrs, lost in their own thoughts.

Dominique whispered something into Bart's ear, and he turned his head sideways to look at her, with wide open eyes. He lifted one eyebrow, and Dominique tilted her head slightly. Bart rolled his eyes, pointing them at Shadow, and Dominique rolled her eyes in return, and put her head back onto Bart's shoulder.

Shadow didn't notice the glances in her direction as she rubbed Wraith's ears. The wolf's tail brushed over the ground faster, her eyes half closed.

Bart closed his eyes tiredly, putting a hand up to his forehead. He was now tired, even though he had been high-strung two times in the last five minutes. He shook his head gently, sighing deeply.

Shadow frowned as she thought she saw something move on a rooftop opposite her flat, but tried to dismiss the thought. However, as much as she tried, the image haunted her mind.

Bart went limp very slowly, and soon he fell down to the ground, sprawling his limbs on the cold ground. He started snoring, and Dominique sarcastically lifted one eyebrow.
"The lummock went asleep in a real deep moment," Dominique muttered, "This guy really doesn't know what to do with females..."

Shadow smiled, glad of the distraction.
"Give him time. He'll get used to it," She said.

Dominique looked at Bart sleeping on the floor, and then she rolled her eyes, and turned to Shadow. "Well," Dominique began, "If he's sleepy, might as well let him on the floor like that." Dominique lifted one eyebrow at Bart, and looked downwards, at the ground.

Shadow nodded slowly in agreement.
"He's been through a lot. Best not disturb him."

"I wasn't thinking of doing that," Dominique replied calmly, "He actually looks different when he sleeps. He's..." Dominique searched for her words, putting one hand up to her chin. "Calm. Not moving, like he always does, or at least like whenever I see him."

"Hm, he does move a lot," Shadow agreed before shaking her head. "We need to get him to sleep more often I think."

"He doesn't sleep if he doesn't want to, that's for sure," Dominique commented, looking down at the snoring kraferr lying on the ground. She tilted her head. "Like every other kraferr, to be exact..." Dominique turned to Shadow. "Hey," she began, "I never really asked you... At least, I can't remember... How did Bart get that extra morph?" Dominique asked.

Shadow sighed.
"We got into a little battle when we first met, with someone from the Guild. I had to give him some of my blood, blood tainted by demonic blood, to save his life."

"Ah," Dominique answered quietly, "So, he was a Kraferr One before you met... And then he became demonic... Has he been doing these... Demonic manifestations... Before?" Dominique asked. She looked up at Shadow, hoping that she would answer honestly.

Shadow nodded.
"Having a demonic side is hard, we carry a section of our parent demon's mind in ours. It's always trying to take over." She said softly. "Demonic manifestations are not uncommon."

Dominique looked down at the kraferr with frightened eyes. "Is he bound to do it again?" Dominique asked, "Even though he has the silver bracelets, that I would judge as something to lower the demonic powers?" Dominique paused for a moment. "And, if he is, is he bound to stop one day?"

Shadow shook her head.
"Silver serves to contain the demon inside, but he will not lose his other side. Not without an operation on his mind that will kill him."

"Ah," Dominique answered quietly, looking down at Bart, "So... He shall never stop having these sudden demonic interventions?" Dominique asked, slightly hesitant. "And... What would be the reason of the last demon crisis that happened recently? I mean, he was just sleeping..."

"I think it was the demon taking advantage." Shadow said, but then shook her head. "All I know has come from my own experience. I can't offer any hard evidence."

Dominique looked up at Shadow. "I understand," she murmured quietly. She turned her gaze down at Bart again, who had moved in his deep sleep, into a curled up ball, or more or less. Dominique tilted her head, not knowing whether to qualify Bart as a kraferr or a demon, or both.

Shadow sighed, leaning her head against the window again, gazing outside. She wanted to go back to her old life, before the prophecy's fulfillment, even if it meant that she knew that she was going to die at a precise time.

Dominique looked out the window as well, her gentle eyes glinting with the many lights that illuminated the streets. She closed her eyes, and begin thinking of various subjects. Now that she knew that she couldn't save the kraferrs, because she was not able to hold a child, Dominique had now set her goal as just to live as a family along with Bart and Shadow. But a different sort of family with Bart than with Shadow.
