Cackles Academy for Witches (Shadow and Natalie)

Merlas descended alongside Natalie, tired out and relying mainly on one wing.

Natalie landed, and walked into the Temple, slightly afraid of what she might see.

There was a lot of debris in the throne room, Shadow lying in the middle of it. Kar's body was nowhere to be seen.

Natalie walked to Shadow, and knelt down.
She listened for breath silently.

Shadow's breathing was silent, almost non existant. Merlas limped in, watching Natalie.

Natalie sighed.
"Sorry Merlas...but...yeah...she's breathing, but barely..." said Natalie absently, taking out of her robes her wand.
She pointed it at Shadow's chest, and began to try and heal her insides.

"There is nothing wrong with her." Merlas said.

"Then why is she hardly breathing?" asked Natalie, stopping her spell to look at Merlas.

"Quite simply, no one breathes a lot when they sleep." Merlas pointed out.

"But you aren't normally as pale when you sleep either..." said Natalie, frowning.

Merlas sighed.
"Give her time. She's not ready to come round yet."

Natalie waited, giving Shadow time...and room...to wake up.

Merlas lay down next to Shadow, watching her carefully.

"Sorry I...flew away..." said Natalie awkwardly.

"T'is ok." Merlas said quietly.

Natalie was silent, hoping Shadow would be ok.

Merlas flexed her wings slightly, shifting uncomfortably.

Tomorrow began to laugh, which was a bit late...and was not helping the situation.

Merlas' ears flicked back.
"Humanoid children." She muttered under her breath.

Natalie looked at Merlas.
"Indeed...she doesn't understand...she doesn't get what's going on yet," said Natalie quietly.

"The first thing Archangel did when she met me was pull my tail." Merlas muttered. "So please excuse my lack of affection for your children."

"That's ok...I understand..." said Natalie, smiling slightly, "but that's Archangel...they aren't all like that...not all pranksters...they are like pegusi too...all have different personalities," said Natalie, "I mean...Shadow was once a child...she made friends with you when she was a child, am I correct?"

"Yes." Merlas said. "My own mother had rejected me. Shadow had attempted to escape from the Senate when she found me in the forest. She allowed herself to be taken back into 'captivity', as long as I stayed with her."

"Yes...indeed...must've been hard...but that's why we all know that you'll be a good mother yo Star...because you love him, and you know how it feels to...yeah...have the thing that happened to you happen..." said Natalie quietly, "you are very brave."

Merlas snortd quietly.
"On occasion."

Shadow stirred slightly, and Merlas was instantly on alert.
