Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

"Good answer," Holly muttered to the Older Shadow, watching the Ferret, whom she 'would never'.

Ferret took out his wand.
"You look like a fourth year to me. You should know this by now!"
"Alas I am not." Younger Shadow said. Ferret narrowed his eyes.
"What makes you think you're so good?"
"I do not, I merely see you as an equal."

"You talked all posh," Holly muttered.

"What do you expect, I only just learnt english as a foreigner." Older Shadow said.

Sparks began to fly from Ferret's wand, but Shadow was unfazed.

"I suppose," Holly said non convinced, she grinned, "You dont talk like that now. Thats good, I might have to take the mick if you did...no offence..."

"It may be such as I could talk, as you put it 'all posh' once more." Older Shadow said jokingly.

Younger Shadow looked down at her book again before she was back handed by Ferret. One hand flying automatically to her face, she looked up at the boy, her eyes flashing red.

Holly grinned at Shadow.
She then gave a low whistle to her miniture form.
"Danger for Ugly," she commented about the Ferret boy.

Ferret and his cronies ran away, terrified. Young Shadow quickly calmed herself down, and the scene changed to show her standing outside the potions classroom, a slytherin badge on her robes.

"You're in Slytherin!" Holly said panicking. Then she remembered. "Oh right .. yeah course."

Older Shadow nodded, smiling slightly.
"And hated by most of the Slytherins."

Ferret, now identified as Draco, came out of the classroom and spotted Shadow. He snarled and drew his wand, heading towards her. Harry walked out alongside Hermione and Ron, and saw this.

"OHMIGOD!" Holly said clutching Shadow's arm, "THATS HIM! THATS POTTER!"
It was an effort to stay upright, but Holly managed it.
"I would..."

"Hey, Malfoy, how about leaving the first year alone?" Harry said, drawing his own wand.
"Stay out of this Potter." Draco and Young Shadow said at the same time. Shadow summoned her magic and shot Draco out of the way.

"Niiice," Holly commented, but she was looking at Harry, "And what you just did was good too..."

Shadow whacked her friend round the head as her younger self started to storm off, but Harry caught her arm.
"How did you do that?"
"In a way you will not know." She hissed before pulling her arm out of his grip and continuing on her way.

"Ow..." Holly muttered, and turned her back on the real Shadow, "I cant believe your younger self was rude to Harry Potter!"

Older Shadow shrugged.
"I didn't know." She said as the scene changed to show Shadow, two years older, watching the sorting.

Holly grinned and rolled her eyes at Shadow, watching the scene change.
"OH!! THERES ME!" she said excitedly, pointing to a girl clearly visible as herself, five years earlier.
"I was cute huh?" she said admirably, "Bored looking though ... imagine being bored your first five minutes in Hogwarts!"

Shadow smiled as her younger self also looked very bored.

"Thats Professor McGonagal right?" Holly asked peering over the tops of heads.

Young Holly examined her nails and yawned, but Older Holly knew that she was possibly more scared than most of the first years, little heart beating frantically, a million things zooming through her mind.

Older Shadow nodded and Younger Shadow started to fidget, uneasy about being around so many people.

"Bates, Polly," Professor McGonagal said clearly, and a little girl in the front row walked towards her looking scared.
A few moments later she was hurrying to join the other Hufflepuffs.
"Bristol, Holliya,"
Holly's heart was hammering. Surely, other people could hear it?
She stumbled towards Professor McGonagal and the sorting hat, the other things that werent blurry.
She slipped the hat on over her head and closed her eyes tightly.
"Hm...bravery..thats always good," the hat said in her ear, along with a few mumbles she couldnt quite make out, ".....thirst for power...hm....that puts me 50/50...."
Holly gripped the edge of the stool.
"Gryffindor," she thought, "Ill give anythin...please....Gryffindor like my dad..."
Maybe the hat heard this, maybe it was her lucky day, but somehow, the brim of the hat opened to announce "GRYFFINDOR!"

Older Holly grinned at Older Shadow, "I was almost put in Slytherin you know." she said wisely.

"That would have been rather scary." Older Shadow said to her friend as the memory changed again to show Shadow sitting by the willow tree they always hung out at. She was reading her book intently.

"Rather," Holly agreed, grinning at Little Shadow. "When's this ...?"

"First time we met." Shadow said.

"Huh," Holly said grinning, "I remember that well...."

Young Holly turned her broom this way and that. Someone called her and she turned her head ... and EXACTLY the wrong moment. Her broom crashed straight into the willow tree and sent Holly flying.
She ended up in a heap in front of young Shadow.
Smiling weakly she looked up.
