Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

"A lot." Shadow said.

"Mm..." Holly said, imagining this, "So ... you must have had loads of lives then .... loads of other best friends?"

Shadow shook her head.
"Holly, although we live for so much longer, we age so slowly. I've been hiding."

"Huh."
This was Holly's word of the day, apparently.
"Poor you," she said softly.

Shadow shrugged.
"You get used to it."

"Mm...." Holly said, "Well....we were fighting, so sorry."
She smiled weakly.

Shadow shrugged again.

Holly shook her head smiling.
"I can never figure you out Roth," she said, "Of all the people I have ever known. You're the trickiest."

Shadow gave a sort of half smile.
"I know. There's still a lot you don't know."

"Why tell me that!?" Holly said outraged, "Now I'll need to know, but probably wont want to! Tell me!"

Shadow shook her head.
"Things that are personal." She said.

"Eva'," Holly said sadly.

Shadow cocked her head to one side, looking t her friend.
"What?"

"Ever," Holly said in her normal accent, "That was 'ever' in a cockney accent. At least I think it was cockney..."
She shrugged.

"No, I was wondering why you said that in the first place." Shadow said.

"Oh," Holly said, "So am I."
It wasnt an answer.
But it's as good as she was getting.

Shadow decided to leavve that topic along and looked ahead of her in silence.

Holly hesitated and then began to walk along the cobbled street.

Shadow didn't notice the sleeping gas until it had already invaded her lungs and started to fog her mind.
"Get out of here Hol!"

"WHA?" Holly shouted ducking automatically. She turned to Shadow. Something was wrong, she thought.
No shizen Bristol, the Holly in her head thought bitterly.

Shadow tried to stay conscious, fumbling for the antidote to the gas on her belt, but it wasn't there.

The sleeping gas hit Holly and, being weaker than her half demon friend, she hit the ground instantly, with a thud.

Shadow only made out a figure approaching them before her mind fogged over completely and she never remembered hitting the ground.

Nice going Bristol.... were Holly's Holly thought in her head.
Leave her alone! were Holly's Natalie thoughts, as she hit the ground.

Shadow came round, but her vision was out of focus for a few minutes. She tried to put out a hand to push herself up, but couldn't move. With a grunt, she wriggled, trying to break free.
