Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

"Sorry," Holly said quietly, realising this was a stupid question to ask, "But ... but you KNOW me. You didnt guess I wouldnt care?"

Shadow's eyes narrowed.
"Imagine you annonce to someone that you're half demon. How would they react? You'd never sleep again. It was easier just to pretend to be human."

"Do I look like Im reacting badly?" Holly asked seriously.

"I read people Holly, and most of the people I see are the kind to react badly. I found it easier. Word gets around all too easily." Shadow explained.

"I wont tell anyone if thats what you mean," Holly said, brow furrowed, unable to understand this posh talk.

Shadow nodded.
"I'd appreciate it." She said softly.

"No problem," Holly said biting her lip, "So....who else knows?"

"No one I told willingly." Shadow said darkly.

"So thats a weird kind of yes?" Holly guessed smiling slightly, "Hey...dont beat yourself up aboutdit kay?"

Shadow shrugged.
"I've been living with it for 10 years now."

"Mm.." Holly said nodding, "Well ... moving on?"

Shadow turned and smiled slightly at her friend before the memory changed again to show a dark cell, where a fifteen year old Shadow was attacking the door with a fierce determination

"Ouch," Holly said cringing, "When's this? Am I involved?"

Older Shadow shook her head.
"Welcome to the prison cells in the Mimistry of Magic." She said as a guard hit the door, yelling at Younger Shadow to 'pipe down demoness'.

"The ministry?" Holly asked outraged, "THE MINISTRY! They wouldnt do this to you would they?"

Older Shadow looked at her friend with a 'isn't it obvious' look.

Younger Shadow swore at the guard, but obeyed sadly. She started to meditate quietly, her back to the door. They had confiscated her cloak, and her t-shirt was ripped down the left shoulder, showing a series of numbers burnt onto the shoulder blade: 33912666

Older Shadow cringed at the sight of the numbers, her hand going to her left shoulder.

"Whats it mean?" Holly asked, looking at the numbers.

"It means that I become a 'dangerous suspect' and that they can track me." Shadow explained.

Several aurors came to the door of the cell and guided her warily out. Shadow didn't fight them.

"Oooh...." Holly said and spat at the aurors.

"No point Hol, they can't see you." Older Shadow said with a bored tone of voice.

Younger Shadow didn't protest as they tied her hands together and wound some silver around her wrists.

"It helps me with anger," Holly muttered sarcastically, "That silver, whats it feel like on ya?"

Holly was answered by a flinch on her younger self's part.
"It burns." Older Shadow said.

Younger Shadow was lead to the court room, where dementors took over the auror's job. Shadow was obviously affected by them, no matter how much she tried to hide it.

"Im glad we cant sense them now," Holly muttered following, "Can half demons sense 'em?"

Shadow nodded.
"Yes, even demons have their fears."

Younger Shadow gripped the arm rests on the chair in front of the court, accutely aware of the chains keeping her tied down and the silver burning her skin.

Holly took a seat where she could see Shadow clearly. Having never been in the Ministry before, she found herself looking at the decor rather than her friend.
