Coping. (Post Prophecy)

Shiraku looked at the ground.
"I don't know." She said quietly, apologetically.

Bart stood silent. He lwoered his head, and then he stood up. He pushed against the table, to stabilize himself. His purple hair fell upon his four red, glistening eyes. His fingers curled upon the rim of the table, the claws scratching it. He bit his lip.

"We need to get an antipoison..." Shiraku said, thinking hard. Wraith pricked up her ears, bounding off again.

"We're not even sure of the poison, Shiraku," Bart growled back, angered at himself for not having thought of poison before. He took out a chair with one abrupt sweep of his hand, and he slumped onto it, his hair falling down over his face again. His finger stapped onto the table in rythm. Bart was trying to think.

Shiraku sat down on the floor, her arms wrapped around Wraith's neck and face buried in the fur of the wolf's neck. Shadow gripped the table with one hand, her eyes squeezed shut.

"We need to take that poison out somehow, with or without the blood," Bart said, looking down at the ground, crossing his purple-furred arms tight together. His long claws dug into his arms.

Shadow's claw-like nails started to gouge grooves into the wooden table as her hand tightened into a fist, straightened out again and then clenched into a fist once more.

Bart, noticing Shadow's actions, stood up from his chair, almost making it fall. "Jesus Christ! Immobilize her!" Bart shouted, slamming down one hand on Shadow's, and the other hand on her leg. Dominique did the same, pinning Shadow down. "Wraith, you know this house better then I do; do you have ANYTHING that could help her, in the slightest way?!" Bart asked, shouting to Wraith.

Wraith was suddenly on her feet, bounding around the house, skidding into walls in her haste to bring things to Bart or when she just forgot to apply the brakes. Ropes were the first things, followed quickly by tranquillizers and sedatives of different strengths.

Bart grabbed the ropes, whilst Dominique took the tranquillizers and sedatives. Bart, keeping Shadow pinned down, tied the ropes over the chest and knees, knowing that if those two parts were immobilized, the whole body was. Dominique then continued by passing desinfectant on Shadow's neck. Bart immobilized Shadow's head, aiming for a precise point in the neck, then inserting the syringe into the neck. He pressed on it, then took the syringe out, putting it onto the table. He waited for the reaction.

Shadow had whimpered at the contact of the ropes over her ribs, several of which she had guessed before that had been fractured during her struggles with the milita. The tranquillizers took a rapid effect on the demoness, and she drifted into unconsciousness. The only thing that moved was a rapid twitching from the top of her tail. Shiraku and Wraith watched the process with scared or worried eyes, both trying to think of things that could help.

Bart sat next to Shadow, looking at her, him also worried. He put a hand on Shadow's forehead, closing his eyes. He thought that it should go away with time. But the poison would stay in the blood for a long time, until it gets attacked by the body itself.

Wraith got up again, bounding away. She came trotting back with a vial of some sort of clear liquid, but Shiraku grabbed it off the wolf.
"You can't give her that!" She hissed at the now offended looking canine.

"What is it?" Bart asked, looking at the vial. I think I saw that from somewhere else... Did I already see that before? It seems familiar. Bart looked at Shiraku, waiting for an answer, his tail flicking impatiently.

"It's Holy Water," Shiraku said, glaring at the wolf. Wraith laid her ears back, not amused. Shiraku went on to explain.
"Holy Water will cure the poison, but it's a deadly poison in itself..."

Ah, no, never saw that before.
Bart took the vial. He knew that demons hated holy things. As it approached him in his grasp, his head instinctively retracted. His hands almost dropped the glass. He had to give a firm grip onto the vial to not let go. Since I'm half demon, I'm still affected by the stuff. Ergh.
"Wouldn't that kill her on the shock?" he asked, handing the vial back to Shiraku.

"It's acidic to demons." Shiraku said. "Basically, it'll kill her slowly and very painfully, possibly even before it's counterbalanced the poison already in her system."

"Basically, it's preferable not to use this," Bart answered, "Hey, wait a second-"
Bart turned to Wraith. "You knew the consequences of us using this, right? Then why bring it here? And why does Shadow keep holy water in her flat, if demons are so against it?"

Shiraku morphed into a lioness cub, growling something at Wraith, despite the fact that the fwolf was bigger than her. Wraith barked a long series of complicated sounding things before Shiraku morphed back, looking disgusted.
"She didn't know what else to do. Shadow keeps the water here because apparently, just after she was rejected from her family, she became close to suicidal..."

"Ah," Bart answered, closing his eyes, then turning his head to Shadow, opening them again. He looked at Shadow as she was unconscious, feeling sorry for her. All of this... Getting banished from one's family... Then, letting yourself into the grip of the miltia... Is hard to bear.
But.
Why did Shadow give herself away to the miltia in the first place?

Shiraku watched Bart's actions before sitting on the wooden floor again, hugging her knees to her chest. Shadow opened her eyes slowly, blinking.

Bart noticed Shadow, and he sat down next to her. He put a hand on her forehead. Can't spot any difference in temperature... His tail flicked, almost touching Shadow's. "So, are you all right, Shadow?" he asked, worried slightly.

Shadow's tail, twitched, moving towards Bart's. She turned her gaze to meet his, her hand starting to straighten and clench again, gouging grooves into the wood.
"I don't know..." She murmured, turning her head away.

Bart sighed a bit. He turned his head to the table, and pulled back his tail, seemingly going to do what he wouldn't of wanted to. It then coiled gleefully around his leg, as he turned his head to Shadow again. "Is the pain still constant, or, present?" he asked.

Shadow took as deep a breath as she could before replying.
"It's worse..." She said, turning her head back to look at Bart. Her tail thumped against the table, seemingly trying to break free.
