Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

Shadow moved away from Holly's poking, slowly getting to her feet and brushing the dust off her cloak.

"Whadda' we do 'till they get back?" Holly asked interested, standing up.

"We wait." Shadow said.

"What fun." Holly muttered, "Dont they know the meaning of the word 'punctual'? ....cause....y'know...Id like to know what it means..."

Shadow shook her head, opened her mouth to say somehting, and shut it again.

Holly assumed this must mean Shadow didnt know what it meant either, so she grinned.

"It means to be on time." Shadow said.

"I know." Holly said instantly, "I was testing you."

Shadow shook her head again.

"Yes, quite." Holly agreed, looking around, "Do we gotta stay here and wait for 'em or can you show we around? Y'know how I get bored stayin' in one place."

"I have to stay here, but you can go exploring if you want." Shadow said.

"I'd get lost." Holly concluded, "We should play "Guess What Colour Im Thinking". Okay.....you guess."

Shadow groaned and was secretly pleased when the Senators arrived again.

"Okay YOU guess what colour Im thinking," Holly said to the Senators when Shadow failed to respond.

The Seators ignored Holly as they started the next round.

"I think Ill go look about..." Holly said to Shadow, avoiding the actual i-really-hate-watching-this-and-being-powerless speech. She made her way out of the room.

Shadow nodded, and the Senators waited until Holly was out of sight before commencing.

Holly hummed 'Faint' under her breath, and it was at the violin solo that she became aware of a sound other than her singing. A quiet chuckle. Behind her.

Shadow lasted longer this time, but still lost control.

Holly turned slowly, wondering who was laughing at her this time.
"Hello." Evil said, smiling slightly.
"What?" Holly asked, mouth dry, "Im sick of you."
"And I of you," Evil said, "Which is why I finally have a full proof plan."

The Senators left again, leaving Shadow alone.

"What plan?" Holly asked, eyes narrowed.
"In good time child." Evil said, waving his hand as if swatting a fly, "Now where's your other half?"
"Not here." Holly said, one eyebrow raised.

Shadow managed to get back to her feet and stumbled along the passages, heading back to her cell.

Holly glanced back into the room she had come from.
"She's really not." she said, sighing with inward relief.
"We'll have to get her later then ...." Evil said, checking the immediate area, "Can I explain my plan now?"
"Whatever...." Holly sighed, edging away slowly.

Shadow stopped, her ears picking something up. She looked carefully round the corner at Evil.
