Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

"Do you know her?" Kia asked.

Holly hesitated before answering.
"Yes." she said eventually.

"Truely?" Kia asked.

Again, Holly hesitated.
"I think so...."

"You're not sure, are you? I know things about her that would make your blood boil." Kia said.

There was another pause.
"How do I know you're being not lying to me....?" Holly asked, eyes narrowed, "What....what do you know?"

"Did you know that she loved her time here?" Kia asked.

Holly cocked her head to the side.
"No she didnt!" she argued.

"Do you know that for definite?" Kia said. "How much do you actually know about her past?"

Holly swallowed, thinking back.
"Are you telling me I don't even know my best friend?" she asked, not angrily.

"No, I'm just trying to help you." Kia said genuinly. "I thought I knew her before, but I didn't."

Holly hesitated one last time.
"Okay...." she said finally, "Well whaddyou know?"

"Not much." Kia said.

"And what is this ...'revenge' you speak of?" Holly asked slowly.

"Anything you want." Kia said. "I'd like to kill her to be honest."

Holly didn't wince as she expected she would.
"What did she do to you that was so bad?" she asked softly.

Kia kicked the tree.
"Everything I was working for, she came and took. I'm the Leader's daughter after all! I've been working my butt off since I could walk to try to gain his favour. Then that demon walks in and he absolutely adores her."

"People always like Shadow...." Holly said shrugging, "I'm sorry she did that to you ..."

"Why are you sticking up for her?" Kia asked.

"I'm not!" Holly said, offended, "I mean I- look, never mind."

"And you don't want revenge? After everything she's done to you?" Kia asked.

Holly looked up.
"I......I do." she said quietly, "Yes. I do."

"Then we're in the same boat." Kia said with a smile.

Holly was being a turd. But that's not important right now.
"What's the plan then?" she asked, smiling slightly for what felt like the first time ever.

"We can go after her?" Kia suggested.
