Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

"I don't know what to do." Shadow said, starting to despair.

"Now young Roth," Holly said, standing to take the lead, "Everything will be fine. I think it's pretty good that both of us have been in here for ten minutes and we dont have detention. And also, McGonagal isnt sending you packing, which means we have all the time in the world."

Shadow looked at Holly.
"You're not the one with wings Holly."

"Right again, sorry." Holly said and shut up.
"Well....what are you like in your wolf form?" McGonagal asked.

"I haven't tried." Shadow said thoughtfully before morphing into a wolf... a winged wolf...

"Like that." Holly commented.
"Ah....I was thinking a wolf would attract less unwanted attention than a winged girl....I am afraid to say ... I am beaten."
She fell into a chair glumly.

Shadow morphed back and let out a roar of frustration.

Holly fell off her chair in surprise.
"Ahem," she said standing up and trying to mantain her dignity.
"An easy life you do NOT have," McGonagal said.

"I'm beginning to wish my mother had the sense to just get rid of me." Shadow muttered.

Holly thumped Shadow on the arm.
"Dont be an idiot!"

Shadow shot a glare at Holly.
"You have no idea."

"Now girls-" McGonagal said, but Holly cut across.
"No, let her talk." she said, "What? What dont I have an idea about?"

"People curse the earth you walk on, everywhere you go, people swear or try to kill you. When you make efforts not to stick out, and then this happens." Shadow snarled.

"And thats better than not experiencing anything? Ever?" Holly challenged.

Shadow nodded.

Holly shook her head slowly.
"No its not."

Shadow sighed, flying out of the door.

Holly watched expressionlessly for a moment and then collapsed onto the seat beside McGonagal.
"Should we....."
"Ill get her when she wises up...." Holly muttered.

Shadow perched on top of the astronomy tower again, brooding.

"So....shouldnt you be in class?" McGonagal asked.
Holly sighed.
"I suppose so .... if she comes back .... "
Holly left this hanging, unable to think of anything to say, and left for Charms class.

Shadow sighed, lying back on the roof.

When Shadow didnt appear all the way through Charms, Holly decided she may as well go and look for her. Her first shot was where she had found her friend last. Astronomny Tower.

Shadow was still lying there, brooding.

Holly came to a halt when she saw Shadow, and suddenly (for once) was lost for words.
Instead she sat beside her, silently.

Shadow ignored Holly's presence.
