Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

"So.........what are you thinkin' 'bout?" Holly said after a tense moment of silence.

"Life in general." Shadow said.

"Me too." Holly said quietly, "And how much it sucks."

"Tell me about it." Shadow replied.

"And how good it is...." Holly continued, staring at a rock in her hand.

"That I don't agree with." Shadow said.

"Mm...." Holly said, "What about Jamie? Doesnt he make you happy?"
She glanced at Shadow.

Shadow looked confused again.

"Is that a no?" Holly asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I don't know." Shadow said.

"Well when you do know," Holly said, "Then you'll agree with me. S'not all bad. Trust me."

Shadow shrugged.

Holly liked being right.
"Shall we go try and do somethin' about this instead of feelin sorry for ourselves?" she suggested after a moment.

"Probably." Shadow said.

"We should....." Holly said, but didnt move, "Ha, that cloud looks like you!"

Shadow raised an eyebrow.

"It does...." Holly said reasonably.

Shadow sighed, standing up and jumping off the tower again.

Holly glanced down, suddenly incredibly afraid of heights, and pulled herself back quickly.
"Meet you down there...." she said, and made to take the stairs off the roof.

Shadow dived down, flared her wings and flew off around the grounds.

Holly took the stairs downwards, three at a time, and came to a halt at the end.

Shadow was flying over the grounds, enjoying the cold air.

Holly made it out to the grounds and scanned the sky for her friend.
"Nerd? I mean Shad?" she called.

Shadow landed silently behind her friend, a small smile on her face.

Holly scanned the sky once more.
"And I am alone...." she commented.
