Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

Holly raised a hand in farewell to Knowledge, and stepped in behind her.

Shadow was sitting down next to the newly started fire.

Holly sat next to her, gazing into the flames and then glancing at Shadow's leg worriedly.

"Can you stop that?" Shadow snapped.

Holly ignored this and sighed lightly.
"What are you so snappy about? You're okay for now."

Shadow sighed, leaning her head back.
"I'm sorry, just a bit jumpy right now."

"S'ok," Holly muttered, "I am too ..."

"Thanks." Shadow said softly.

Holly nodded and glanced over at the mouth of the 'cavern' as fancy people call it.
"There arent like ... bears in these mountains are there?"

"Yes, but the stay away from here." Shadow assured her friend.

"Good," Holly said, "I dont fancy the thought of fighting off a million grizzly bears tonight.... It is night innit?"
She looked towards the mouth again.
"Either that or really early in the morning..."

"Night." Shadow said.

"How can you tell?" Holly asked, convinced. She had learned from experience to trust half demons.

"I tell time by the position of the sun or the moon." Shadow said.

"Oh," Holly said admirably, "You're so much cooler than all my other friends..."

"Watched don't exist in Synairn." Shadow explained.

"I see," Holly said, thinking about a life without the EXACT time, "What else is different about Synarin?"

"No electricity." Shadow said.

"No electricity?" Holly repeated, "I couldnt live like that ..."
She grinned.
"Imagine that..."

Shadow smiled at her friend.
"Synairn is quite basically one city and several small villages. We're ruled by a High Priestess and a Senate."

"Arias the High Priestess?" Holly guessed.

Shadow nodded.

"Huh...." Holly said pondering this, "Are the Senate like the Government?"

Shadow nodded again.

"Interesting," Holly said leaning back against the cave wall, "Im all talked out. You talk for a while. Tell me something interesting."
