Memory Lane (Shadow and Holly)

"Welcome." Shadow said, masking her tiredness.

"This is a pretty hard first task ..." Holly commented, attempting to concentrate on her own wall, "But it WILL be worth it.... won't it?"

"Hopefully." Shadow replied, closing her eyes to concentrate.

"Mm," Holly agreed, studying Shadow carefully, "You alright?"

"I'm fine." Shadow said.

"Okay...." Holly said not convinced. She rubbed her hands together in an effort to keep warm. "If one of us gets frost bite, you reckon we loose the task?"

"I don't know." Shadow said.

"Huh..." Holly said thoughtfully, and pondered over this for a moment. Yes, she could ponder too.

Shadow paced again, trying to think.

"I hope she's gotta way outta here," George said stamping his feet, "What happens when one of us breaks? We get out?"

"Why am I always the solution?!" Shadow snapped.

"Don't mind her, its her time of the month," Holly whispered, nodding wisely.

"Demons don't get time of the month Holly, for the 100th time." Shadow said.

"I think this is time 112," Holly said, but then shook her head, "Right, Yeah, I knew that, just saying it again ... "
There was a pause.
"You're the solution 'cause you're the smartest," Holly answered, a little bit too late.

Shadow tried to think of a solution, but she felt her eyes fill with tears as her defenses wavered and one of her memories came into mrominence.

"Defenses!" Holly said quickly, "If I concentrate could I give you mine?"

Shadow shook her head and started to pace again.

"Could he?" Holly asked hopefully, pointing to George. She said 'he' because she had forgotten his name. That girl.

Shadow shook her head, concentrating on her pacing.

"OH! Let's pace," Holly said sarcastically, but then, thankfully, she shut up.

Shadow shot Holly a dirty look.

"Oh stop, you know what that does to me," Holly muttered, snorting.

Shadow ignored Holly.

"See, they're getting into our minds." George commented, "It's like Lord of The Flies .... we're gonna start eating the smallest one soon ...."
Holly looked around expectantly for the smallest. It was then she realised ... it was probably herself.

Shadow thought for a second, before grabbing the other three and teleporting back outside of the maze, morphing as soon as she touched the ground into a wolf.
